Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"

You are here: Home / The Daily Pose / The Co-op, I wasn’t there but I was……

July 5, 2017

The Co-op, I wasn’t there but I was……

Thanks guys for still coming by the page even over the holiday……. what can I say, I fired myself for the long weekend!  Not a GMC in sight  7.5.17 morning 12

Sorry to say but even a prisoner gets 1 hour a day of sunlight I think…… man I was in need and Janie saved me from it all   7.5.17 morning 3

Yes, I have a glow stick around my neck watching fireworks at Ormond Beach  7.5.17 morning 1

I hope all of you had a great 4th, this one was special for me…..  She made a favorite meal  7.5.17 morning 2  A hand made burger, corn and non-fried potato slices…….. Lord keep me away from that bad fried stuff!  No colors, just a purple Walk in Charlies T shirt…. with NO pocket!  Yes, I feel better now……….

So lets get to work!

Another coach got FiTech last week 7.5.17 morning 5  This motor in Mr. Clean is one of our roller cam motors now with the lungs it needs.  Note the 1/2″ thick wide-to-narrow adapter plate to fit the  FiTech throttle body (narrow bore) to our Ole wide bore intake manifolds  7.5.17 morning 4Just like in bowling, the holes gotta fit…..  That makes Mr. Clean AND Savoy Brown getting “fuel infected” here.

7.5.17 morning 10  7.5.17 morning 9  JD’s coach is coming out of paint today after a strong session with Mr. buffer  7.5.17 morning 7  Arthur was wet sanding while Junior buffed things out  7.5.17 morning 6  I think the results speak for themselves 7.5.17 morning 8True not everyone wants this level of finish, some do.  We’d all love to spend as little as possible to have a new looking coach but brother you have to put in the work to get the finish out.  There was a thread on Facebook on a guy who won a trophy with his car that had a “3 day paint job” on it.  OK… fair enough but let me ask you…. how big is that car….. how many people worked it, one OK then how many hours was put into repairing damage or was is a scuff and shoot?  Guy I’m sorry but there’s no magic wand or process that can substitute for quality hard work…… just like there is not a quality line bored, balanced, custom cam motor that will stay pulling 12,000 pounds for a good long time……. you could be lucky and wild bores could make silk purses…. that probably won’t happen either!

Sorry but this IS my page.  Hey and on that, there was a thread the weekend on another coach burning.  I’m telling you what’s more flammable than 40 year old particle board?  Answer…. not much!  And then a post entered the thread that they had known of a friend with another coach that had burned …… take the hint………

Just protect yourself, forget the coach but please do something, these things are vintage mobile campfires looking for a match!  Never use dry powder chemical fire extinguishers on your coach….. if it’s all you have then you were not properly prepared.  Say it with me “FOAM” can save your life and maybe your coach!

No one can tell you are safe unless you prepare yourself, as Forest Gump said “it happens”.

I’ll stop, hope you had a great 4th, a good day today and a better one tomorrow…… see ya then……. where is my fork, I need a fork!  7.5.17 morning 13  .
