The Co-op, how we come up with new stuff

Over the years, folks have said to me I should focus on more “normal” work if we are to make money at this… and you know if the goal of doing a crazy business like this is to maximize our profit abilities I would agree…. but wouldn’t that be boring?  I mean be like every other flat rate mechanic… “what can I do ya for” and “Waz it pay”….. man I hate that mentality!  To do a business like this re’s no room for “mercenary mechanics”.  Flat rate guys who will rig whatever they have to to “beat flat rate” or mechanics who stack up work to do and call it “job security” while the owners just sit and wait until there’s a car payment due or something!  Guess I’ll never be a true mechanic .. good for me but if I sit here saying money isn’t an object I’ll be stuck by lightening because the WORLD is about the buck…. so for me to sound all altruistic is not totally true but I will tell you that mixed in with having to give to Rome what is theirs you dfo need to challenge your mind to keep your interest up..

And that’s why we try hard to keep in our mix.  “Custom” will always cost more…. heck things done for the first time have to patterns to follow… that’s why it’s called custom!  But hey, there are no retakes in this life and if ou really want it you would not be true to yourself if you didn’t just get it so that’s we’re here.

A few creative places to think… ‘ve always loved to read bathroom wall graffiti … you know, to get in the mood so that’s why I offer full creative licence in the guys bathroom … all I ask is to keep it clean.2.3.17 morning 2  Another place is our “skunk works” AKA the pin wall in my office where I think we may have a new product, tell me what you think  2.3.17 morning 1  I’m not that nautical but I could see myself on the deck of the good shop trailer trash!  Hey, maybe I COULD get a GMC to float!  The GMC Sunshine Statesmen locl GMC club are taking a ship cruise to some warmer places down south…. too much fun for me but the club I think has made this the 3rd year to be waterbugs so as far as socialness, I think they have the market cornered.  I’m more of a land lubba and seeking seat time in a GMC kinda guy… any GMC drive is my goal to club around.  Janie will be our Co-op emissary on the trip while I hold the fort down.  Bon Voyage you’all……

For the rest of us unfortunates, we’ll just have to pass our time doing other fun stuff.  Our mechanic Phillip is exercising his right to have fun… he competes in mud bogs, truck pulls and other such “Hey, hold my beer” endeavors.   I pitched in by letting him pick a couple of suitable 16.5″ old rims we have stacked up after installing 16 and 17″ tires and rims for suitable rubber offerings  2.3.17 morning 3 Fitting on his Cummins diesel 4wd Dodge monster truck with 6″ dual stacks and a chip …. lets see the proper way to burn up an old tire… they do diesel burnouts….bye bye 16.5″ rim…..

And if you think the GMC Community is wrapped tight… I’m going to an MVPA  (military vehicle preservation association) tomorrow….. wonder what they would say if I showed up in this beast?  2.2.17 morning 1  Hey, there’s so few times in life you really get to imss someone, when it happens you just need to do it….. we’ll see…. Yeah, I have the same image there already sporting my Chinese military side car bike CJ-Daytona-pit-5  What can I say, it makes me happy…

Enough wasting all of our time this morning…. it’s going to be a awesome day here in Florida and an awesome Super Bowl weekend…. be sure to celebrate… I may be celebrating with my cat and a beer but that’s good too.  See ya tomorrow…..

    Hi Jim,
I love your site and Patreon posts. I’m also paying, what bothers me is getting 5 emails a day from Patreon. Can you turn off the bubble machine?
    Thanks,
    Jack
