The Co-op: Got it loud and clear…… stop whining about the cold….. give us GMC stuff!

OK, lemme jump start my phone and get some pics out…… we’re moving to Texas Tux and his dash AC next… be right back

While we get in more cabinet grade wood for Ruby, lookie what came in the UPS truck  1.5.18 morning 12 shifteing to the other side you can see I set up my operating room around Texas Tux for the next phase of this 3 coach dash AC/heat? MacDaddy dash project  1.5.18 morning 11 Some you might say, “what’s a Macdaddy dash?”  Lemme just say this, Mac McNeal at www.custominstumentpanels.com has been a GMC enthusiast longer than me…met him when I got into the game and you know the operative phrase when you mess with a GMC….”Everything ALMOST fits perfect”….. well Mac’s stuff comes really as close as possible to being “perfect”.  Opening his box ….baby it’s packed and you can’t loose any of the pieces/parts…it’s all put together  1.5.18 morning 10 with the instructions and individually packaged senders, labeled and numbered with all panels screwed in place…. doublebagged and wrapped  1.5.18 morning 9 and when you get all that packing out of the way… just like when you open those 2- 54pound boxes of the quad bag system with the gold zinc anodized hardware….. the view of Mac’s creation kinda takes a little of your breath 1.5.18 morning 8 Now let me caution you guys…. you really need to feel at ease doing 12 volt DC wiring to wire one of these.  Trust me, Mac has seen it all.  If you’ve not done something like this before…DO NOT learn on your coach!  I’m sorry man but when a circuit doesn’t work you wire… you get frustrated and call Mac saying there’s something wrong…. brother 9 chances out of 10 it’s installer error…… it’s just the truth.

White faced gauges on a brushed aluminum bezel… stunning man…I’d be a happy camper looking at all that blowing down the road for sure!  Jared has the modification down for the firewall so Texas Tux got just a little lighter yesterday getting it’s cut .  Yessir, I see daylight thru the dash1.5.18 morning 2  With the major cutting done, I pulled out the original dash vent regesters which BTW were installed on the dash BEFORE it was mounted to the coach….what fun!  So with the heavy work done, it’s time to prewire the new dash clusters to the original wire harness 1.5.18 morning 5So today, I’l be cross legged as much as I can… on the floor prewiring this new MacDaddy dash into Texas Tux, got my laboratory moved and set up…. It’l be “diver down” for me into some wiring fun  1.5.18 morning 4  The Mac dash panel is over with my upholster to get it’s skin stretched on 1.5.18 morning 6Santos has the valiant tailors’ fingers…what a professional!   Tom H., the pilot of this space ship, called wanting to see a few pics…. hey, your coach looks like crap right now but I do think we found that squeaky countertop problem……. hey but which countertop was it?  1.5.18 morning 3Hey, mo worries we’ll just replace it ALL!  BTW guys, we’re pulling the tub from this rear Bath Birchaven turning it to a larger “executive travel wash room”……. hey, we don’t need no stinkin tub!

OK so it’s still cold out there!  Yep, gotta get in just a little whining…… Pulled off 3 layers by the afternoon yesterday but an hour later I had the Suzuki heater on hi!  Man it’s got a good heater…never really paid that much attention to it!.

Take a look at the steering column mounting bracket…tomorrow you will see along with some other stuff the steering column lowering kit that CAN be used on any dash original or not.

1.5.18 morning 1This will be my object of frustration for today…stay warm……Iiiiimmmmmummmmmcooooldddddd!

    Hey Jim
Just how cold did it get there, any worry about the outside coaches freezing up. I see frozen Iguanas falling from the trees, what’s next sharks?
It’s been 15 to 20 below here in Minneapolis the last two weeks. We keep the vehicles plugged in so the oil won’t freeze and just hunker down. Kinda like when bad weather hits Florida. Stay warm

    Hey Jim,
I see three temperature gauges on that new Mac dash. Very nice! I’m guessing they’re for 1) coolant, 2) engine oil, and 3) tranny fluid temps. Our coach has temperature gauges (digital) on only the coolant and tranny fluid. Is it wrong to assume that the engine oil temp is OK if the coolant temp is in an acceptable range? Would you recommend that we all monitor our engine oil temps as well? Thanks for your input.

I showed these pictures to my bride of 40+ years and all she did was “groan”. She said it looked like looking at pictures of yourself being operated on. I’m guessing she and the coach have “bonded” after 35 years together.
