The Co-op: A good week ahead

7:11am and there’s 286 since midnight waiting for me to get to work….. it’s an awesome responsibility….. 10.2.17 morning 1  thank you for your support… though I also have folks who don’t think much of me or our work that come here every day too.  Hey, that’s fine, maybe they too can learn something.  Once in a while I’m asked why I commit to do this most every day?  Hey, after doing this for going on 20 years I hear ya… it has occupied part of my attention every day….. the thing is, for an emerging market such as recycling a vintage RV as this whole thing is about….. I feel information, answering questions and showing what can happen for those committed will only be good for everyone… that’s it and like I said, I have found over the years I have ruffled some feathers.  I mark it up to something I found when I was a Boy Scout Scoutmaster:  Folks all need something they are noted or accepted for….. some use non profits to get their superiority fix …. those in a non profit like the Scouts or the GMC community for the right reason leave themselves open for these self centered opportunists that want to be heard and singled out as someone important.  The rest of us could care less and are not into the enthusiast movement for that.  It’s funny… well not really that a few bad eggs makes the basket smell and power grabbers have a field day when the rest of the group does not care.

Look, those of us who are here to enjoy our vintage machine want to ejoy our coach, learn about it and talk to others who have the same feeling about their coach…… I enjoy enthusiast groups, I’ve been in many, have learned many things and have many fun hours and THAT’s what I hope you are here to do…. please enjoy this form of entertainment but please go elsewhere if your intent is to cause problems or “gather feathers for your hat”.  I call those folks “Greyhounds running for the rabbit”  That is not what we do here so as Forest Gump says, “That’s all I have to say about that”.

So coming in this morning knowing there are some of you already cranked up and moving inspires me to get out and make mornings count.  And sense no one else is here & I’ve found our team here works best when all of it’s players are on the field, mornings are spent for me catching up on the day befores work and what’s hoping to happen today.  We have a floor to lay in a coach heading out soon, we have finishing up an undercarriage and moving on with mechanicals.  I’m doing a “snapshot” for the customer on the 57 Chevy stretch for his approval (I’ll share the pics with you), we have a moving wall to build on an Airstream, a customer is coming in to review their progress, another mechanical review on a new arrival, FiTech in yet another coach …. man that beat sure goes on.

Keeping a unique shop like this viable is a stuggle if you want to do it right.  We have grown over the years and now are what we are……. many capabilities, much experience and the facility to make something happen….and it’s all been with the help of you, the GMC community…. Thank You……. sounds like a PSA ad…. sorry but it has felt like that and more are getting interested in the GMC every day.  I see it… you may be the only “ole Coot” in your county with one of these…….. I see and talk to new and wannabee owners every day…….you must understand this.

Unfortunately, the more enthusiasts we attract and interest increases we also attract those that would exploit the good things about our group…. it seems to happen alote….. something is found to be good then folks want to organize or exploit it the whole damn thing goes to hell!  Lets not let that happen as enthusiasm and interest in the GMC Motorhome increases.  True enthisiasts need to watch for those with other agendas…….. wanting profit on our enthusiasm……. hey, those of you that already understand this, I just wanted to let you know I too understand this…. those that don’t understand ARE the ones with the other ideas…….. there ya go… lets all be smart enough to not get sidetracked…. enjoy your GMC, it’s a cool machine, get involved with it, ask questions and want to make your coach serve you the best.

This weekend was most relaxing, just heard Nathan and Jared pull up so it’s morning confab time……. see ya later and really, after all the crap I have to put up with, it’s good to knoe you guys are out there….. thank you…..
