In here this morning before dawn, somewhere the energy came. Could have been from such an awesome weekend at Jim G.’s Rondevous Rally. Did I spell that right, I gotta ask James where the spell check is… remind me of that please…
I have some awesome pics of the wet sand and buff out to 3000 Kevin has done to Roin’s original orange 1973 23′ coach. You will have to give me a little time to process the pics.
BTW, for your knowledge, when you come up onto the web site now, you will first see a full screen pic of something. I can change that pretty easy and I’ve extended the time shown so you can take a good look at the pic. There will be 3 pics rotating so get used to pulling up the site, stay on the front page and see the pic slide show, no telling what you will see there. Those of you who have bookmarked the Daily Pose directly may wanna just bookmark the front page and go in after you see whats on the front page first. Great idea James. James is the brainiac guy who is helping us set up this new site. A fresh GMC owner off the road now from his full timer van life now he’s going to enjoy the on the road lifestyle in a 26′ GMC motorhome. If you would like to know more about James and his quest, go to YouTube then search for “wanderlustestate”.
Let me take a little time now and process a few pics. I also have a new process on that hopefully it’s more time effective. Rest assured while I’m gone, my ears are pouring smoke from grinding up this learning curve. Whenever you hike the AT (application Trail) when you read “slight assent” in the guidebook be afraid… be very afraid. If I don;t come out soon, please come in and get me… here we go, see ya in a little bit…
Yes, this works a little better… lets get going.
Ron’s Buffed out original color 23′ 1973:
Ron K., I have more pics of the process before this for your scrapbook and I may have some time to show them here but let me show you what I walked in to see just before dawn this morning. Looking at fresh paint sometimes is like looking at a mirage, the paint is so fresh and the surface is so smooth (Kevin has a 3 stage wet sand process then a 3 stage buffing process with each stage using finer and finer material to end up at 3000).
Like that little cobbler bent over his bench tinking on a shoe sole, it’s dark outside, there is a sound of a buffing machine rising from the front of Kevin’s cocoon. Twinkles is there guarding Kevin — it’s just such an exciting way to start my morning.
Oops, the pic was supposed to come in as a thumbnail, bear with me on this…
Now remember, these pics were taken before dawn, light was terrible. Here is the original orange color buffed to 3000. Now, lemme turn off the flash, this is a low light situation for my phone but take a look
Look close… you can see my reflection even in low light!
The hoods are also down to 3000 now, infact the entire coach is through the buff out process
Compare that last pic to what Kevin started with
Check out the original paint on the firewall where the paper is pulled back. This white color after research was found to have a orange tint, look carefully…
Stay tuned for more…
This weekend was an awesome time… went to a rally but not a club rally…… I think we should start calling these Rondvous Rallies! Here’s how it works, you learn of a neat event or something you would like to go to. Let it be known by either Email or call your group of friends and let them know what you are going to do. I they think it sopunds good there ya go…. they come, a couple others do the same thing and boy howdy, you’ve got as rally! No organisation, no fees, you bring food… may do a pot luck or you may just go ahead and eat your food…. no plan and nothing for someone to not like! There were no plans so… no problem!
In the Ole Days, the mountain men would roam the hills hunting and trapping all year. They too know man cannot live by bread alone so what would they do? Each year at the appointed time, probably just before the cold set in… they would all meet at a place.. They would bring in their pelts, swap for gun powder and hardtac, grink until their are stupid.. pick fights.. tell lies and shoot their guns. The week would end, heads were fat from the grog, pockets were empty and they all said lets do it again next year. THAT is a mountainman’s Rondevous! We can do this, find a good excuse for a party, tell everyone you would like to be there and just do it!
This weekend Jim & Ada G. found an awesome venue this past weekend at Rennigers antiques in Mt. Dora. They invited the vintage trailer guys, vintage VW folks and the GMC motorhomes had a great showing too. Here are 3 of the 5 coaches that made this Rondevous Rallythere with Jim G.
check out the sign they put together for us over in the canoe
Was a fun time for all. Come back here tomorrow and I’ll tell you more about this. You can do a rally like this… there is no planning at all! And fun… my coach kept me happy all weekend long… that’s what they can do so let them! Jay Gee (my coach) made the weekend an adventure… go do this with your coach!!
See you tomorrowe…
