GMC Motorhomes: fixing body sag

……..This is a situation we found concerning the body supports to the ladder frame.  If you attended the Taly GMCMI thing we did a talk on issues of age and supporting of the crossmemberss of the floor.

We’ve found there needs to be outer body rail support to the ladder rails on the frame.  Here is one of the steel gusset structures we have installed. Here you can see these gusset welded (for our prototype coach) to the rails supporting the outer body rail with one of our 1/2″ body pads on each gusset to the body. Now straightened out, still the aluminum crossbar supports have taken their sag but we feel reinstalling floor panels will straighten that outJason is cleaning up the crossmemberss and supports before the floor panels get installedThe goal and predicted outcome will be a more stable, flat floor….. The body better supported to the frame and increased clearance in areas like engine cover to air cleaner, increased gap between the frame and body and less transmitted vibration.  Stay tuned for more on this project…its a good chance your coach needs this fix.

Ron K. Picked up his coach today and his journey begins. His recent coach purchase and subsequent mechanical updates he’s now on the road to find out what comes next…..and there will be more stuff to do!  Still sporting a carb., I enjoyed getting to “tune” a carb motor again…….all that is gone when it comes to the new fuel injected systems.  I mean the writing IS on the wall but I still enjoy getting jiggy tuning the ole “Quadrasnots”.

His intake was cracked…blocking his crossovers fixed that so he’s ready for do when it comes around but for now its running nice.  A quad bag rear suspension …I mean u shouldn’t leave home without it, tires, brakes, fuel system, etc. and Ron starts his fun.  Good luck man, thanks for your support and call when you have a question……..

Even after sitting close to a decade, Ex’s fuel tanks don’t look so bad……from the outside!  Hey but look at the goopenpucky on the bottom side of the sender taken out of the tankNnnnnasssstyyyyy These tanks are trashed.  Having them cleaned out and lined is over $700 for both tanks.  And when THAT crying is done you still have 2 metal tanks that fixed might stay together….may not!  Today, metal tanks are no good for our Ethanol laced fuels.  The new fuel injection systems have a hard time dealing with 2 tanks tied together like ours and all of that will get worse.  Today we are ordering up 3 more 53gallon custom aluminum tanks like the prototype that won’t into the Tail GatorThis is a mod that we will need to do at our shop because of the mods needed.  With 1 under our belt to prove it works, my bet is this will be a pretty popular modification, call me if you’re interested…….

What a watchdog….I’ve been at the shop an hour now and “L” is still in bedOh…so now your up when u smelled the BK tater tots…….oh well, she LOOKS mean anyway!

Ok, big day planned with many cool things happening…..thanks for stopping by, thanks for your support….especially showing up the Troll that’s trying a comeback……these guys are everywhere and thanks for supporting the GMC community keeping them out.   We’ll see ya tomorrow
