GMC Motorhome, What…. a 350?

Boy I’ve done it now!  We don’t need no stinkn 455!  Well, no this is not going to turn the big blocks to dinosaurs …. the EPA did THAT for us!  This could be a viable alternative today and we’re checking it out.

BTW, have you been to the new web site we’ve cranked up?

www.lifeismorethanmpg.com

Life-is-more-intro-1

We’ll probably get boycotted by Green Peace but at this point in the lives us  “Baby Boomers” and the subsequent generations that get their kicks by burning up dinosaurs…. hey, we all know this fun is coming to an end…. I mean how much noise does an electric drag car make?  How much black smoke does a Prius make? So this web site is there to give us something at least to watch and contribute to that has all the stuff soon we won’t be able to do!

Hey and if you wanna see something else fun, search YouTube for “Motorhome Drag Race” ….JimandJim_racing

So anyway, that’s there and to that end our “Skunk Works” here at the Co-op has another “hey youall, watch this” projects getting ready to break down the doors.

With the progress in technology, detuning of our fuel supply, hardening of our oils and just how you should drive a 40+ year old, 12,000 pound projectile…….. we’ve been contemplating all of that with folks in the know and have put together with Drew Koba holding the torque wrench a 350 motor that just might be a missing link to the future of our motorhomes.

Boy, I can already hear it….. don’t bother telling my I’m nuts, it only makes me more determined!  Here is Drew bringing our little bundle of joy from his cleanroom from the build  Spacleys 350 1  A “Rocket Olds” 350 in factory colors with only 1 purpose in life……. to bring a GMC Motorhome up to highway speed and keep it there!  Spacleys 350 2  OK you motor gurus, pull out your PC Dyno app  (we already have) and tell me what you see.  This is a 350 punched out 40 over, sporting our “Kryptonite” cam profile and a few other goodies I need to keep to myself.  Next week this motor will be put together and run up before getting stuffed into our Lab Rat and then just stand back!

This ain’t your everyday, run of the mill 350… oh no!  You’re just gonna have to wait and see the outcome.  It’s not going to beat my 455 full roller motor in Larry but5 that’s not the goal.  We want a stable drive train, not one that snaps drive shafts.  We want economy, reliability and longevity….. lets try this….

Now wait, this is not the only “Jedi”, there is another……………. A couple of years ago we put together this problem child  350-motor-1 that with a 4:11 diff would burn 12″ 33 TIRES!  “The Tin Soldier” still exists Tin-Soldier-dip-6 and if I can ever catch up on work this piece will be back on the road… for now it’s just waiting it’s turn.  Tin-soldier-back-to-work-11 and now with FiTech fuel injection and a few other things, our new 350 might just be our Huckleberry………. stay tuned!
