GMC Motorhome, More motor build tips

We left yesterday deep into the 455 short block motor build we had to wait for the hi volume deep sump oil pickup tube.  The difference in these stock rear wheel drive and Toro pickups is pretty obvious  1.26.17 morning 7  This is a critical component of a reliable motor for our motorhome.  Our “seep sump oil pan ” needs this larger diameter longer tube and the bolt on bolt pattern on the high volume pump is very different from the push in smaller stock oil pickup.  1.26.17 morning 6  With the bottom together Phillip flipped the motor over to deal with the valve train  1.26.17 morning 2 The double true roller timing chain gets set… this was done because the stock single row chain had stretched screwing up the timing  1.25.17 morning 2  with the time chain cover and water pump on, Phillip got the push rods and rockers of the valve train under the valve covers 1.26.17 morning 3 and then the intake with the stainless steel exhaust crossover plates in place 1.26.17 morning 4 So with getting the motor together we’re on track to install the Pickles Manny trans and this fresh short block rebuild goes in.  Stay tuned to see how things go…

Had a great visit yesterday afternoon with Scott N. and on to Beth’s for a few brews and good time.  Hey Scott, that new head dress looks pretty spiffy!

1.26.17 morning 5  Every day is an event which must be celebrated …. it’s all just too short to stress out….. weird to hear that from me?  Thanks to all around here helping to make all things better.  When a group of talented folks get together many things are possible.  Thanks for all of your support.

A new Patreon.com video today…. be sure to look at that…… will be a subject from the pole we took.  Can’t wait myself what one of you guys wanna hear….. It’s daylight now so it’s time to open the doors and see how this day goes…. can’t wait, see ya later…
