GMC Motorhome: Honda EV-6010 install (updated)

Thanks for your comments on the Honda generator we’re putting in David S. Honda EV-6010.  A little history, David knew sooner or later he really wanted one of these so when I found one 6 months or more ago he bought it.  Why?  Really nice or refurbished units are hard to find… just finding one is hard but one this nice….it was worth the investment 1.31.18 morning 5

Since this one it’s been dry finding these great machines.  We’ve been looking for another one for someone…..LATE NEWS……. we found a good core generator yesterday!  Ada will tell me today but whoever that was wanting me to find them one….call me.  So the rest of you know, we will have the unit completely gone through, new carb, new electric radiator fan and whetever is needed to make it what it needs to be like the one above.  The end goal is to come out with a reliable, serviceable HONDA generator that fits like a glove into a GMC Motorhome!  BTW, someone asked for a better pic of the compartment modifications.  As you look at the next pic, The silver insulation material is a composite layer….you see the chrome mylar reflective heat layer, under that is a hi mass nylon sheet…1 foot square of the material weighs 1 pound.  Then with 2 separated sheets of open cell foam this material is the MacDaddy for this application.  I’m sure there are other very good other materials maybe even better but we have found and use this.  The base plate is yes, plywood cut out for the base of the generator and fully rubberized undercoat.  This seals the wood underside and edges but also creates 2 sound insulation layers going down in the compartment AND insulated the generator from it’s muffler below.  Wood is a good insulator for sound and heat.  Metal will ring like a bell…and make sure you install all 6 10mm hold down bolts, if you leave the 2 center ones out the baseplate of the Honda generator will vibrate.  The edges of the insulation is taped with aluminum tape held in place with hi heat contact adhesive and “quilted” self tap screws with fender washers into the compartment walls.  One 4×8′ sheet of this material is $180.  Remember weighing 1 pound x 32 squares the shipping is a factor…hey, what can I say but it works.  If you would like some of this give me a call.  1.31.18 morning 6 So I hear the next question: Hey it doesn’t pull out! Wazzzup?  There are no normal maintenance parts on the back, the radiator back there needs only 2″.  This generator was beautifully designed like a flounder fish, everything is on the out side of the unit!  both plugs, oil, water and fuel systems, DC and AC fusing, air and oil filters, electric fuel pump….all of it….that’s fantastic to maintain.  with 6 bolts and 2 header bolts and the unit will slide out onto a service cart and now anything can be fixed.  That’s simply fantastic for us.  And it cuts out @ $500 of labor and materials to fabricate.  Hey now some want it and you got ut man but most of our installs are like this.  Just depends on what you like.  The allthread rod sticking out under the LP door means the are working on the holding tank and new maserator system 1.31.18 morning 1  We’re doing another coach “backend” and are waiting for parts on both projects 1.31.18 morning 2

Yesterday I showed a pic of the flip forward hood on the green Ford  1.29.18 morning 3 Here’s what I was talking about first opening like a stock hood  1.31.18 morning 3.Only like $200 more and for you Ford guys who knows how much _____ it is to line up that original &%#@**(%%^^ hinge…….. pull the 2 lower bolts from the upright arms and the hood comes on and off…..beauty Hoser!  Hey and I have some new pics of the door panel we made.

Stanby1…

Yes, here is the custom made door panels on this “restomod” pickup  1.31.18 morning 11  1.31.18 morning 10  No kit, that’s all hand built and covered.  Hey no brag just fact!  When you tell us to do something…. we do it.  Will not do something that is not a good.  We just can’t!  Just like the brakes on a GMC Motorhome.  I just about will not let you leave if your brakes are a known issue.  If I did and you had an accident……… how do you look at safety devices?  Seriously!  Hey cool looking things too so that’s one of the great thing with the team we have…….. whatever it takes……..

Billy interior 18  Neat toys but with an only 1/2 plywood floor…… man that’s not much…and under that there is square tub turns to it’s weak side …..what’s THAT about!Billy interior 17 The pitching that *&^%$# aluminum belly pan that BTW was corroding away anyway Billy interior 6. we found a stupid thin I beal deep enough to hold a GMC Motorhome holding tank!  Under the floor….outside the place you live…and we thing we can install a recessed shower pan!  Billy interior 15  The rotted parts of the wimpy 1/2″ lywood floor is fixed Billy interior 16 before it gets a second 1/2″ floor…….

It’s late and I need to roll……. big fun and there’s more…….. I say this probably too much but thank you for your support, your business and your visit.  This is why we’re here.  yeah, I know too mushy….see ya tomorrow.
