So if you’re compiling this as a manual, print this one too….
Hey B ruce B., your “Elvis” has entered the building Wow, this time from Amazon? Man, they’re coming from everywhere! Replenishment is going to pick up all these “heavy” labeled boxes coming to this address, wonder what it’s fuzzy logic will say about that! We have 6 systems going in as we speak…… so bring’m on!
Today I think Jared will install Marlin’s “topside” hey, it may fire up by the end of the day……. this summer afternoon rain stuff is cramping our style a bit. On paint, if we shoot with this much humidity the paint will get milking in later years….. hang with us JD……..
Last post I was talking about pulling your intake to block the hot exhaust gasses from entering the intake. There was a thread on Facebook of a naysayer pointing out that the computer of the FiTech system was located in the throttle body itself and that heat may be a factor. Don’t cha love it ……. when they can’t find anything negative to say the “what about down the road” is always out there! This is true, actually I feel the heat is the main problem on our Rostra computer controlled cruise control systems. They seem to crap out at @ 3 years…… I think there the 20 year old designed computer DOES get cooked there but in this case, taking the heat away from the intake…. I feel certain with the technology today that knowing this thing is going to sit ON the motor that they have considered this. And if we can do our thing and take the heat out of the intake heck, I think every FiTech system going on a GM motor should also get the heat taken from their intakes as well. So lets answer that “but yeah….” with “we’re doing our best to take heat away from a well designed system” and lets leave that one there. Yes, time will tell us if this is an issue but hey, lets give it that chance……
Anyway, we were talking about checking your timing chain for play……. here is the Skunk Works Olds 350 motor with a new 3 port mechanical fuel pump. Yes, that’s the one silver part on that gold “Rocket Olds” motor Actually this recirculating mechanical pump was one of the “Band-Aids” we’ve been installing on the carb motors. If you are still with a carb. like one of mine still, this standard pressure mechanical pump will shunt to the carb it’s needed pressure then “recycle” the in-needed fuel back to the tanks to keep the fuel flowing giving it less chance to vapor lock.
We WERE going to add that to the 350 too but now that we’re going FiTech this pump will come out and a blockoff plate will be installed. The reason I bring this up yes, you will need to do this on your motor installing the fi system but also….. this is where Phillip stuck his finger in to feel the timing chain. With a socket on the crank, turn the crank and see if the loose chain raises it’s ugly head. This is how we founf the really serious loose chain in Marlin’s motor .
So don’t try and convince yourself your motor is fine, you have to pull this pump off anyway…… like they said on “Dirty Harry”…….. So punk, what’ll it be, are YOU taking that chance? Nuff Said……
BTW, I did a video on the decision to do this on Patreon. Now come on, we had a funky roll out on all that…. try it again….. just type in :
Shadowed at the top of their front page (I think they didn’t want you to see how easy it IS to find things on their site) Anyway in a shaded box at the middle top of their page is a block with “search” in it. Click there and put in “Motorhome Rehab Ranch” and press enter. That’s it…. you are there…. click on the first video that tells you how to search then look for “fuel injection”. There are other videos there too and it’s all open and free. Does not track you and will not generate spam.
On the Skunk Works “Rocket Olds 350” project, I walked into a quiet building this morning with this staring at me Our motor stand (a front clip from a 66 Toro) positioned and ready to accept it’s patient…….. the patiet in prep ready to get up on the table. Our hot shot patient fitted with it’s NEW balanced with the rotating assembly flywheel now it’s just a while before we fire that mother up! You KNOW I’ll put that video up on Patreon!
