GMC Motorhome, a double diesel packed weekend

I have some awesome pics and goings on this weekend… Manny was here so that outa tell ya something!  let me process some pic and I’ll be back.  Have some more coffee…

OK, I’m back and like I said diesel was our game this weekend and with Manny here it was time to get jiggy with the 2 diesel conversions we have in house….

First, we got the second motor in first into a super nice Explorer GMC Diesel-install-o-8  With the motor in the hole it was hook up time and Manny flew in to give us a little instruction.  Diesel-install-o-15  This is about as much as you can see of Manny while he’s working  Diesel-install-o-16.  The motor in is one thing, now it’s time to connect up the cooling, electrical, oil, trans and fuel systems to it Diesel-install-o-5  This hookup is being completed at the old shop cause the lift was there until last week Diesel-install-o-10  Connected up, fluids added and diesel system primed up….. the 6.5 GM turbo-diesel fired up Diesel-install-o-12  One in… now we have the fuel return left, the conversion of the tanks to diesel… we’re running the motor off of a marine 6 gallon fuel tank right now.  We also now have the diesel generator to install but hey, we’re off this dime, the motor is in and running….

NOW…. in to diesel motor #1 which has been top painted waiting to get into the paint process line we figured this would be the right time to pull the old gas motor.  We got our lift relocated to the new shop and a temporary load of rock to fill in the swail shop-lift-2016-6  so we could get a coach onto the lift in it’s new spot.  shop-lift-2016-8The first coach up was Tom B. looking for some issue on his front suspension .  Cedric-diesel-11  This also proved up our temporary get on the lift problem.  With that working NOW we can get to business.  You must understand, we have been without use of the lift for almost 2 weeks!

Nect on the lift is Cedric’s #41 for his diesel motor swap.  We have a couple of paint jobs lined up before Cedric goes under the spray gun so we figured we go for the diesel swap with Manny here to help us so it’s over to the new shop for #41 Cedric-diesel-10Through the rock gardenCedric-diesel-9. and the first diesel job is on our new lift Cedric-diesel-8  Then the operation begins and with Manny’s help yesterday the original motor anf trans hits the ground Cedric-diesel-4Down the hole and out the bottom we go  shop-lift-2016-10  shop-lift-2016-9  This week we will be installing the new turbo diesel motor and 1 ton front suspension.  Stay tuned for that.

Was fantastic having many here to help get our new shop cranked up Manny-2016-5. He got another “Double D Challenge” T shirt for eating this massive burger.RC-burger-challenge-3  This is his 3rd Double D Challenge at Beths, Manny-2016-double-D  Manny works very hard and plays hard too… last night we celebrated another great visit at Julies Manny-2016-7.   Thanks Manny for the help, the hard work and your friendship.  We install ALL of Manny’s custom parts… his transmissions for sure but his 1 ton too.  Manny’s diesel modification for sure!

If you are truly building a coach for the future… diesel is certainly an attractive modification…. no computer, mechanical injection, built to military spec able to run after the EM blast from a neutron bomb!!!!  Hey, we may not be there but the motorhome will run…. now those cockroaches that would live driving Dodge slant 6’s will have a motorhome to drive too!   What an awesome drive train and what an awesome guy that we can thank for the project.

The day is on and I need to be out in it.  No days off this weekend….. there it is… “so ya wanna be great don’tcha”  Make it happen…..  Thanks for the visit and we’ll see ya tomorrow….
