GMC exterior breakdown for paint… Cal, that’s you

Well it looks like one more day till I call out the lawyers, guns and money…. stay tuned….

Today I wanted to talk a little about what it takes to break down a coach for paint.  The production places turn loose a minimum wage “taper” trained to tape and bag off everything on the exterior that’s not supposed to see paint… grill… headlight baskets…. tail and clearance lights heck, they even bag off the old body side molding!  It’s faster asnd thus cheaper to tape stuff off than to remove it.

Here is Cal’s 78 coach as we take it apart for paint Cal-breakdown-2For some reason my computer is moving like a pack of stampeding turtles, I’ll try may best to get this out before the day hits…. lets try

Above, the top rail is off… only broke 2 screws.  We’ll grind those 2 flush to the aluminum, dimple the steel screw and drill then retap them and we’ll be ready with that rail.  The scaffolds allow Cal-breakdown-3  The grill bout fell out, the headlight baskets out we can restore those before they go back in.  We’ll remove the front bumper and insert to paint the bumper.  Cal-breakdown-1  The rear panel screws are out… a big ?… and today his awning comes off and the roof gets gone.  We should be ready for body and DA sanding next… stay tuned…

Gotta go… see ya tomorrow….

Just wanted to take a minute and thank the GMC CO-OP and Jim for all the support offered. That help was in the form of answered questions of the GMC face book page, messages and by phone calls. It’s a shame to hear what you are going through. Our you tube channel Cruzin Castles fully support the GMC community, it’s vendors and dealers. We chose the GMC due to it’s build quality and the documentation of previous owners. It wasn’t until we purchased our GMC did we learn about the community, we read about it, but didn’t fully comprehend it. The comprehension started with our previous owner. We were at their house for about 4 hours going over our new to us GMC, showed around their home, invited out for lunch, show me another motorhome community where things like that happen. It didn’t stop there it only continued at a faster rate. We are in love with our GMC, we are in love with the GMC community. We are reaffirmed on a daily basis of how good our decision was to go with the GMC. So with all that said THANKS!!!! to the GMC community for all the work you have done, all the time you have invested and the love you pour into this community. We are TRULY!! grateful. Much Respect!! Cruzin Castles
