Diesel motor in a GMC

Took us all day to get over to open up the crate holding the GM 6.5 turbo diesel motor yesterday… you would think after waiting so long I’d dig into that box like an ant hill finding a cake!  Just too much happening and with the big Christmas rally for the GMC Sunshine Statesmen this weekend heck, no time to sleep!

You caught me, had to process some pics but here it is, still in it’s box, something that will extend the life of the GMC at least another 10 years….. An all NEW motor for our motorhome  then breaking the box open I had to catc h my breath… it’s here.. number one    This is NOT a rebuilt motor, this is a NEW motor connectedwithout a bell housing spacer bolted directly to our original front wheel drive transmission by Manny! …. no computer this Military spec HumV motor has mechanical fuel injection, the old style glow plug system.. made to push a military vehicle up the hill and over in the middle of battle!  Want a bullet proof motor… here it is!  This is fitted with a 273 diff with a red line of 2200rpm the sweet spot stays pretty much the same with a reported 16mpg.

Can’t put it back in the box… Pandora is out so the only thing to do now is to put it in a coach… Cedric’s number 41 will be the first recipiant.
