testingOn this one you’ll just have to forgive me… Merry Christmas and all of that… for sure but mixed in that it’s been completely upside down around here.
So let me put you in my mood right now, I’m alone in my office at that stupid desk everyone agreed I should get rid of but in front of my slide up window it works great… sorry for all those who wanted me to step up to an actual desk But the view out the womdow… guys, what a view!
With the shelves upstairs where parts will be, I can see all 5 of my rides…. under 1 roof… never happened before!
Now time off CAN be spent at the shop pleasantly….. Now don’t get me wrong… this is not the end game… this is the now beginning of the real game! I mean holy moly… what do we have to work with now!!! JayGee took first honors sheltering Manny while he was here
. So you see, I’ve had much in my week…. not to exclude in any way the awsome time at Janie’s Mom’s where everyone is getting together. Me, I was an only child tg used to it….o a research libarian and a Greyhound Bus dricer so hery… HoHoHo…. but after a wonderfull 36 year marriage to a gal with 6 brothers and sisters…. I’m getting used to it all…. but just being here at the shop… no one else and see a shop that not only my but so many others have pushed for… it’s just fantastic.
As the mission statement on my business plan I actually wrote up when starting Cooperative Motor Works (BTW, I thought that was about the most non-commital name I could think of if I knew it was going to be about vehicles) ” There is a lagitimate income derived from helping people”… that was it and I can’t tell you how many people laughed at me and actually saw it their mission in life to take advantage of it… and they did but see…. do it the best you can and good things will happen. Cooperative Motor Works, inc. now can truly do it’s mission…. to a bunch of people in a lote of ways!
Hey, if you wanna sport around town in a vintage limo… or RV we’re the place to go. In house upholstry, in house mechanical, paint and indoor interior restoration…. 2016 will be an exciting year…
So yes, I have been way behind on the Turbo Diesel install… like I said much has been happening and just think Manny was here too!!!! Doing the diesel!!!! Holy crap my mind has exploded!
I don’t think you will kill me to ruin the plot but the dang thing first up and ran! Yep, starp in boys and girls this is the fun part of the ride…
Yeah Manny with Hank as Number 1 got this Galactic cruiser fired up After a last check on Manny’s custom oil pan where the last glitch was
You can see the red ATF flowing through the clear bypass hose on the bell housing and the lack of seeing a fan can only mean one thing it’s running
And you know even with no exhaust the thing isn’t loud… Manny said the turbo dealt with that energy… makes sense, sound is energy byproduct loss… just like burning rubber… hook it up an launch is what real hot rodders do!
OK, the bottom line is you are looking at about 10-15 hours extra on the motor install to the frame… does not mean it’s only that to swap to a diesel it means the mods needed to integrate them together is 10-15 hours. No diesel will be installed without having it’s entire clip swapped out…. this assures new parts throughout and no unexpected results. Sorry guys, no cheap swap… with the goal not just stuffing a diesel in…. we want to turn back all the clocks to truly make the drive train reliable…. THAT’S the goal! There are 5 units on the road in testing I say thanks to those folks who helped us but even their reports are less of the motor and more of the adaptation and old parts…. this now our goal, we have the adaptation handled now the only way to assure the rest is through a complete chassis rebuild. Guys I’m sorry but look at the logic… if we are going to diesel for reliability and maintenance reduction how can you leave the rest of that old crap in there! Take it out and just do it all… and be done with it… if that’s not yours goal don’t go diesel… if it is do it right and do it once. Cost on a full swap… parts and labor will be $25-30,000… and there is the generator to consider so yepers, this is a project for those paying ahead.
After the first of the year, Hank will finish up the front clip build while Kevin has the body in his paint “cocoon”. It”s a scary place full od dust, weird compounds, liquids and chemicals. Kevin our “Merlin” is the wizaed of the exterior here he’s wet sanding and buffing Tim’s coach getting ready to take it home to the UK My guess this is a complete 1000 or less grit finish.. wait till you see the 3000 he’s going for
Trying to catch up John D. has the record for first guest at the Co-op RV resort… inside Thanks for the friendship and being involved…. I’ve known John since I met a GMC Motorhome… scary!
OK, I’m off to a party with Janie… she’s such a goos social director… early to bed though for me… we’ll see ya tomorrow….
