Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"

You are here: Home / The Daily Pose / Wow, I have some energy on a Saturday!

October 3, 2020

Wow, I have some energy on a Saturday!

……….. I look at this as a subjective drivability road test………if I can settle in behind the wheel and pretty soon I find myself with a drifting thought of something other that piloting a boat………. I don’t want to Jinks things but it seems just like our Olds motors …..throwing more oil up into the valve train quietens  down the out of adjustment valves!  If you can follow that puzzle it’s more evidence that I’m thinking a little deeper.  I even have gathered enough energy to do something about the hole in our kitchen where the cooktop island used to be.Closing in on 100 years this built up wood frame “cracker”  house is very much like these old Motorhomes we beat on.  No one (full disclosure it was me) ever thought about life after the idea of the island cooktop went out of favor!  Yep, just like all that coax we used to run throughout the coach….. there’s bluetooth, WiFi and 4g cell networks…..when 5g rolls out you can have Yoda stand in front of you…….3d!  Same thing…..things are different today.

Wow, check out this interior that Bob….our resident cabinet wizard…   is putting out next.  Take a minute and zoom in over that pic above…….very nice!  Those are all new cabinets….rounded corners, solid surface counters, new Sunbrella upholstry

Now this next restoration coming out of our skunkworks it’s more that a pretty face.and stay tuned….lemme show you more as we finish projects in this BIG project……in an effort to catch up on a couple of other projects around the place……the skin on the Stripes EM-50 project is about ready to be sealed up and breath the open air for the first time……THAT will be a big event.and yeah, you can’t walk around the shop without our security contingent Eleganza making sure there’s no lizards to attach me!  How did the exterior finish turn out?The numbers matching motor is running around the block in Mutcedeswhich will end up with a Sniper fuel injection system WITH the FiTech Forced Fuel feed system…….Stay tuned.

This 1973 coach project is back on getting sealed up so it can go outside for some mechanical work.  Arthur’s and Josh are refelting and sealing all the side windows to protect the interior part of this projectA queen badfloorplan with a vertical aluminum fuel tank under the bed platform…….an interesting design that will totally eliminate vapor lock.   Yep…….stay tuned.

Tiago is working with us through some modification results…….one step at a time…….

The next project for Arthur and Josh should be sealing up the fresh skin on this project.  What a so unusual about a white body with a stripe?how about a 3 process, white pearl with a gun metal grey metallic pearl original stripe theme….under the clear buffed out to 3000.  Yeah baby, the More Better Body! Once again…..Stay tuned…..

Hey, they’re stripping my Alcoa rims!Hey look, if there needs to be a spare tire on a restoration project sporting 6 Alcoa rims……..everything I have is expendable!you don’t need matching rims to sit there!

So yeah, we have many exciting projects opened right now.  Some project are having to go elsewhere because of our timetable.  What can I say other than this work takes the time it takes for a quality finishan original radiator core support being fitted with some new finnery ………and no that’s not a word but you need 14 of them per inch on a new coolant cooler……. .

Ok, I’m going for a sausage biscuit…..no gravy ……. Gotta get my clog rate back up……..everything in moderation……?

Period: full stop.
