Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"

We have a contest this month over on Motorhome Rehab Ranch……..

NRanch……..No, there’s not a motorhome grand prize………. More like “Space Friday” on NPR, it’s less about the prize and more about the enjoyment of being involved. Of sure….. I have dome one of a kind prizes and I hope you will send in as many video subjects…..ysubjects…..yep, that’s what you do. One YouTube comments, here, on Patreon even what’s now old school…… Email……hey, you can text me too.

Anyway, I want you guys to get involved here…..

So whats been going on at the shop? Digging into another project….. Literally

“With picks and shovels they started back down………….” Down to and then the floor of this commercially used Transmode.

Jason had the dumpster brought over to make destruction less painfully. The coach has added insulation, that unique low profile propane tank and a mobile or so of wiring……….

Zoom in on this pic, you'll see light thru the front panel..........yep, it will all be new to include the steering column. This is more and more becoming SOP, I mean anything 45 years old made of wood needs to be suspect and we are expecting need for more of this. I know that sounds scary when you look deeply at your coach. Look at it this way, it will probably take more work than you thought going into this.....thats also not unusual......but it all doesn't have to be done at the same time.
"While you're there" can turn a beer into a 4 pack of tall boys! The coach above WILL get it all.....but I can't go that way myself with my coach that I've got set up just the way I like things...........

But see JayGee isn’t going that way.

…. He’s outside again….. Hallelujah…..pass the plate! He’s been in the belly of the big house getting brakes….. I did a video about what I found when I looked at the rear bearings……go watch that. It’s the reason every coach we work with all get new nearings, races and seals. I mean it’s @ $25 per wheel…….watch the video then do it!

So replacing EVERYTHING, ALL BEARINGS…. then a full gravity bleed I can finish the suction then a pump bleed later……in the meantime I have gravity flow to all 6 wheels…….oh, forgot……of COURSE in needed to replace the brake master cylinder……… I got him om the ground

note: decrease the outside of the casting BEFORE you spray paint it to help keep it from rusting up. KNEW I forgot something!

A gravity bleed to show it all works I’ll finish the bleed later.

Ready to go? Let’s get some fresh fuel………. The PS pump growling…..a hose must be leaking. Lost my jumper bypassing the neutral safety switch….in the fuel bay! Then overheated on the 2 mile drive……the radiator split!

Good thing the grill was held on with springs and buying previously replace the radiator core support is cut.

follome fixing ththis…..NOT throwing it all out as we now do in all work here…….lets talk about how to work with what we have……….stay tuned, JayGee is worth it to me and getting out on the road is a little closer. And THAT’S what it should be about!

……..

    Jim,

What would be helpful is a step by step install of the most requested upgrades to the GMC. For example this could be how to install the awning with an actual install. It could also be the macerator or how to install an EFI. What at least this ranch hand wants is a step by step with an actual install.

How about doing some more information on the late model Yukon radiator and fan.
Like the year model that works and what the mounts look like. Similar to the video you did on the AC upgrade with the aluminum box specs.
