………..Our emo Onan Power Drawer generators were top of the heap when they were born. Just a look at any other generator of the day all look like a surplus device off a WWII Naval vessel!
Our Power Drawer was the pride of the fleet and even thoughts of repair and maintenance it would come out to meet you for the work! Brilliant!
And for decades and even today many folks have been proud that their today “ole Troll” still pumps out power. They were great but as I said when we started this morning…..things age, wear out and fail. We are in that phase in the viable life of this machine.this Onan reacted well to our startup procedure…..it needed a set of points, an electric fuel pump and a new seal on the fuel mix screw on the carb.
So it works…..great! But still time moves on and so many parts are original….original at this point mean OLD! Which means now how long will it do its thing until the next fuupaa happens?
When your wife says “I’m hot” really means that generator had better pump out some power for the roof AC!
SO, what’s your bet…….
Then came in the Honda EV-6010. A water cooled Honda……..my mother-in-law has a Honda Civic that just won’t stop! And for 20 years we have been maintaining and installing this commercial duty power plant. And for that time, we have installed hundreds of these units with very pleasant results.……. Even as late as this week we serviced the older Honda EV-6010 unit in the Coke Gadabout.
BUT……..and here it comes……we found something that the ravages of time has effected our beloved Honda.
The good news is there was already a video over on Paul’s “Pinellas Power Products” video instruction that explains that the corrosion on the rotor will effect output.and just like the before Power Drawer power plant, maintenance has now become an issue even for the 6010…….we now transform into maintenance mode on the Honda generators.
They need to come out and get some love on several issues. The Coke Honda came right back on line, Ricky is our on location Honda wake up guru…….so from now on, we recommend you Honda may need service. Hey, after 20 years those 500,000 EV series Honda’s that came to the US, will need a little help in the future. Hey, no big deal…we have support and parts……but time IS marching on….so act appropriately.
I’ll be back later………
