……. I know you have heard this, if not I’d like to show you this issue we all have to watch for. Because our Olds motor have their distributer turn backwards, maybe for another reason but for whatever, a standard single row timing chain will prematurely stretch…..this is not a “maybe”, its a fact! Here, compare these 2 pics, note how loose this chain is….bout a 1/2″ of movement.kinda hard to see sorry but along with installing stainless steel block off plates with a fiber gasket set fixes the cracked intake issue too.Heres the “turkey tray” intake gasket that came out covered with cooked carbon cookiesobe chip of that carbon stuck in an oil passage and your motor will fail! See how hot the exhaust crossovers allow the heat to build up. A loose timing chain and a cracked intake IS a problem with your motor!
This coach is coming together with all the mechanical issues addressed to increase reliability….Aurthur ….our small guy…… is prefect to install air shut off/fill kits on the rear suspension, you need a small guy for stuff like this ….and that’s Jason stuck up under the coach doing the intake and timing chain. Won’t make is run better but cleaning and painting the valve covers and brackets just makes us feel better
We have the new radiator, electric fan box, etc. in.stay tuned as we also install a new single belt, tensioner pulley serpentine belt systemThis as a huge off shelf aluminum radiator from Summit……$350, not $750 for a custom fit GMC radiator. Like I said…..stay tuned.
Ok, gotta get to work, 40 degrees in Florida…..that’s cold! Thanks for the visit and your support on Patreon.com. Give me a call if I can help and we’ll see ya tomorrow…..
