The New Co-op: So, which one is bad

is it this one with the bearing and races welded to the hubor maybe you voted for the hub that Bubba used a Roseburg torch to burn off the last set of bearingseither vote you are right…..they are both wasted!  These came from 1 coach that to be fair, a competent mechanic worked for a year and a half getting the coach ready for the road.  Only thing was he was unaware on how to check the front wheel bearings, both of these were loose.  The really reached one literelally froze upans twisted the spline on the outer CV joint a good 1/4″!this passenger side got so hot the grease liquidified, the brake caliper froze up twisting the CV…..amazing…..I would have to think if the hubs would have been temp checked every 250 miles we would have not had a failure when it did.  There was damage for sure which would probably have spiked a temp before it failed.

Drive your coach 250 miles at a run….stop, touch each wheel to see if the temps feel ok.  The 2 front will be the warmest but the same.  Middle 2 wheels will be similar in temps and the rears will be the same and the coolest of the 6.  Do this every 250 or so miles and chances are this will not happen “all of a sudden” without warning.   There is a qarning, look for it.  At the same 250 mile stop, hit the bathroom….your bladder will thank you and only having to pump 250 miles of fuel you won’t need to pack a lunch to fill up!  Drive 60mph , you have aerodynamic advantage from the slippery shape of our coach body.

Smell roses and enjoy the ride, I want as much “seat time” as I can get!
