Recently, it was pointed out thru a Facebook thread that one issue having any comment in a thread having the same impact wether its a good thing or bad…….after I don’t know, years of trying to get folks to understand the Oldmobile cracked intake manifold issues……. I actually think finally even the most stubborn naysayers are starting to see that after 45 years of serious heat cycles our intakes are cracking between the large secondary ports of the intake.this intake pictured is a 455 intake, cleaned, magnafluxed to be sure there are no other cracks and has need repainted in original Olds colors ready to install.
Here is a 403 intakeand yes, it shows the usual crack as well
ywe…..not just 455 intakes but also 403 intakes as well!
Pull up your carb and take a look……I dare you! And if you install a fuel injection system without blocking these exhaust crossovers….brother you have made a mistake.
Hey and while you’re in there, check your timing chain for slack……..if the motor has miles on it, the chain WILL be stretched! No maybe!
Please, take this Q and do this. What issues will you have? Eventually, this will be something you will HAVE to deal with…..better off on your time than on a trip…..right?
