The Co-op: You. gota know when to hold’m…….know when to fold’m

………Know when to ride hi….when to keep working.    To show the real drama us getting the to this rally……”Test drives” are just that…..you get a positive result when thing work and when there’s a problem.

The test drive yesterday on Marco was a success…..in that we found something no one had anticipated.  Marco above there is doing a water leak test outside in the rain last night after his rails were sealed but the test drive yesterday was successful in that if we would have had Marco drive it to the rally he would have had brake issues.

On testing brakes from replacing the brake master and rear brake hoses we found the rear wheels locking up.  Hey, he had awesome brakes……a little TOO awesome!  The re locked up every time.  Pulling that druma fuzzy black wheel cylinder……that’s fluid holding brake dust, the wheel cylinder was leaking.

When u see this in 1 wheel, all 4 rear wheels must be checked.  Hey, we can do that……..we still have time!

Then pulling the or drum the picture became completethe brakes that felt great coming into us had fallen apart waiting for a place to squat.

It’s always the case its not what to do but where to stop and assuming a 3 year old brake job was good to go…….wasn’t.

This means Marco needs a complete brake rehab and there’s no time for that Now.  Sorry man but it has to be right….especially brakes!  So as a real lesson…..there’s someone struggling with their brakes on Facebook right now…….do it right, do everything and be safe.  That’s what working with brakes is all about.

So a Honda generator, FiTech fuel injection, a new dash, floor, upholstery, fresh motor and Monster trans are all gonna have to stand down from the rally……with brake issues that must be sorted out, Marco is out of the race……had to happen.

Had someone suggest we need to bring the Revcon we’re restoring like the one on the cover of this months GMCMI “Vintage RVing”Yeah, this oneyou can come by the shop but its not ready yet either.

Bringing all the factors together to 1 point in time is really hard.  The coaches we are bringing are still coming together with only 2 working days left.

It seems small but Ruby got her new steering wheel with its ruby horn buttonHer frig is in and its wall getting ready to be closed up….note the Wabasto diesel powered water heater/furnace below the frigoops, turn your screen….sorry.  Ruby is still in the running to make the RallyThis is REAL drama!

Tin Soldier got his electric fan box thermostat yesterday….no motor fanIrd a 350 Olds motor with FiTech computer engine controlled power plant.  We believe Tin Soldeir will make the rally…..we hope.

So real drama….not stress, not scripted this is how you get custom stuff done……it just takes the time, there’s no short cut and u can’t rush things.  Tomorrow…..we pack for the convoy. At this point we have 5 coaches in our Tallahassee run……I can feel the excitement brewing………..

See u tomorrow
