The Co-op: You can feel it when things are getting done

It has to do with the team….when everyone is here doing their job it’s amazing how much can get done.  It’s a far cry when we had “mercenary” mechanics here.  You know, “how much does it pay and can I do it faster to make more money?”  I hate what the “what can I do ya for” mentality has tainted the mechanics trade.

It’s the team effort that makes things happen…… it’s everyone doing what they do best that does it and guys that’s what we have…..and I’m not ashamed to brag about it.

So anyway, let me walk you through yesterday, I have some pics still being processed but I think you’ll get the idea with these:

For fun…Phillip looks like a fir trapper skinning down his prey (a Ford 400 motor….. stuff you can’t eat laying on the floor below) back at the cabin    That week’s meat is put away    OK, I’ll stop but hey, he loves this stuff and that’s the mechanic you want working on your coach!  So we’re getting jiggy with the rear suspension on this project    Our detail specialist Arthur takes over after Katlyn breaks down the drums as step 1 of the cleaning process.  His job is to scrape all that 40 years of gook off the brake plates.  Sometimes we get them in with so much dried brake fluid and dust…..you can see what it’s taking him to get that goopenkucky off!    Bad pic but he’s in there safety goggles on grinding that tree bark off with a wire wheel……..not a fun job hey but somebody hasta do it……..

Pulling the back end of “Rock the Alps”, we’re getting the generator compartment ready for it’s new tenant

You guessed it a fresh Honda EV-6010 water cooled Honda generator    Remember that was the coach Janie & I sweated a weekend out because the Ole Troll Onan finally bit it……..No more “no power ” soon!

“Texas Tux” interior is finally coming together.  With the front area carpet about in, walls up and trimmed out

It’s time for our first attempt at refinishing the overhead cabinets using our new texture process.  It was kinda weird heading this project up…..18 years ago I made Texas Tux overhead cabinets…..fully laminating them and for 18 years they did their job well.  But the problem is using laminate as your finish material you can creats radius edges in only 1 direction.  No rounding 2 edges in 2 directions.   But with this new process, not only can I preserve the really cool curve I had made before but also radius edged the lower edge of the cabinet    and the finish is epoxy based…harder than woodpecker lips!   also color keyed and textured to the walls man, this is the way to go!  We’ll be adding the RGB “twinkie lights” and maybe even hang these today!  Wait…stop pushing, that doesn’t help….it takes the time it takes……….but stay tuned….Shhhhhhh!

We have the “ants” on Texas Tux…next we attack David’s project 3 coach and push it out.  The prototyping of the new dash AC/heat projects (all 3 of them) have taken more time than usual….I was learning doing all 3 at one time.  These projects must come to an end soon…we have some projects waiting in the wings I can’t wait to get into…the owners can’t wait either…………  Keep watching and stay tuned gets a little ond but with as much work as we have in house, hey just stay tuned…….

Went by the machinist to check on our motor in rebuild….ha’s got the heads out getting built up    Mike didn’t like the way the valves cleaned up so he’s got coming in a complete new set of valves.  Normally we do all the exhaust valves automatically but this time the puppy gets all new ones    man, I need to hold the camera better…sorry!  Anyway, you get the idea….yesterday was a good day.

Back in the saddle, it feels good to be able to plunk all this down…it’s therapy for me…….I hope there’s something in it for you too butkeeping all this organized and moving forward…like I said is a team effort which BTW…you are part of the team too.  Hey, without the cheerleaders that highschool football team NEEDS a little enthusiasm to play on.  You guys do that for me…thank you…..

And then when I thought I had covered most of yesterday’s fun…our shooter is about ready to give this thing some sanding sealer and new paint……. such a cool car and this is the stuff these guys love to do….and I love that!

See ya later, call if I can help hey and go give your motorhome a hug…no one has to see ya but trust me you need to….it will be our secret….see ya tomorrow
