Late that is if I was doing this every day……every week…….for the rest of my life……without ceasing…….but I’m not and our team has gotten of that hamster wheel working to focus on what we’re doing rather than just being there. If you are a manager or owner of a business like what we do, brother go to 4 days of 10 hours each day…….. It only took ME 20 years to break down to try something new and I’ll tell you it works.
I know I’d love to and used to take the work so dead serious there were 24/7 weeks. Nights of sleeping in the shop, in the car on the road and just neglecting the rest of my life so much………where did it all go? Its in helping get to where we are today.
We haven’t slowed down, just redirected the efforts …..we’re putting out more work and I feel we’re getting better every day. You are always a product of your team, our “state of our union” is strong!
Anyway,The body repair and sanding of our “EM-50” project has begun. In our exterior work “cocoon” with the original striping decals sussessfully removed the cracks, chips and whatever 45 years has done to the original surface can be fixed and sanding to a bite surface can begin. It’s well digger cold in the metal prep building out back but Jason bundles up….. even though some do, we’d rather not spew heater fumes in the air around the coach. See that’s one thing about a shop in Florida, its cold so seldom like this no one has proper heaters in buildings like this. Yep so it’s wrap up and bear it!
I passed this service truck going for parts yesterday. Man, he gave his wheel on a service call?
Thats doing whatever it takes! Just had to share that with ya.
Back to work…….I had to go into a “Mac Daddy” dash that we had installed maybe 2 years ago. I wanted to show you how easy it is to open up the dash to work on the dash wiring. Using a GPS driven speedometer, this main dash cluster is out of its hole still completely connected and really easy to work on. This is the coach we found that the transmission kick down switch shorting out will blow the fuse on the gauge cluster…..please disconnect yours! When you do wiring on your coach don’t create “ghosts in the machine”. One tip I don’t use wire ties in bundling wires in the dash. The sharp edges of the tie can snag another wire or bundle maybe damaging a connection. I wrap bundles with a length of Scorch 33+ electrical tape. DO NOT use tape that says “UL” on the roll…..it turns guey and stiff. If I were “UL” I would put MY name on that Crap tape! You can also find Scotch 88+ at most good hardware stores..that’s a consumer version of the 33+ used commercially. Please, don’t use cheap tape……. Not wrapping harnesses just in sections as you see. This way no wires or bundles will snag something going in it out. If you wondered why I did that…..
Anyway, took the Volvo over to Mike’s to pick up another intake manifold after cleaning and magnafluxing.M.an, he does a good job!MIkea new place is about set up, he’s got his machines all set back up and doing work
Ok, my phone is screwing up and I have a leaking faucet at the house…..it’s “Honey do” for me! See ya later, sorry I was late ….no you were early!……….
