As things change while we try and figure out what plan works best I’ve found that for me now, weekends have become something different. “I’m as good once as I ever was” ….. what a great song and becoming more true the older I get. I need the weekends to deprogram, maybe cut the grass, have a beer, exercise my pin ball machine and just basically do a great deal of nothing. I think I’m going to focus on 5 weekly posts and let my now 5 plunking fingers (don’t know how they work… I think it’s the closest finger to the button push it….
Anyway, Friday was a usual packing of the coach. Allen had us all running around with last minute things they would like One final we have have to double remember…. when you replace fan belts they must be retightened after maybe 100 miles. Allen threw his belts over in St.Pete…. talked him thru that…. he said it was nice getting out of the clean room where he lived and got a little grease onhis hands and sweat on his shirt…….
. Always keep this in mind on your spare parts on board. Always carry at least 2 alternator belts….. it will turn the power steering pump, water pump AND the alternator. No AC but hey, in a pinch on the side of the road “we don’t need no stinken AC”. Well, maybe it would be nice but that can be done later. To get off the shoulder and back driving, if you only install that 1 belt you can move. 2 adjuster bolts on the alternator.. one on the bottom.. one on the back and loosen the swing bolt to let it move free. Get that 1 belt on and you are gone! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Phillips (1 of our mechanic) truck clean! Standard shift, 4wd, Cummins turbo-diesel, twin 6″ piped out the bed and a computer mod device. Have you ever seen a 4wd on a drift track? I think he’s going to the mud bogs over in St. Pete this weekend…… Katlyn also has a 4wd…it’s a Chevy, Duramax diesel…….. good to know your mechanics can handle big stuff… for fun!
Steve’s undercarriage project is done and off the lift. We had this coach come in on Capt. Hook Saturday with fuel issues Off the road, we’ll have to turn too and quickly solve whatever issue we have then finish Steve’s project. When we run into folks having troubles on the road… it’s really proper to pull back and do what you can to help out. I mean you would want me to do that if it were YOU on the hook… counting vacation days while wondering “What the &^%$”. I’ll let you know what we find.
Still dark outside it feels good though after a relaxing weekend to be in here ready to bust a week.
Oh yea, also this weekend…. so don’t let me fool you into thinking I pull back cold turkey…… the seats for the 57 Belair stretch are out of a late model Cady. Electric racks, AC seats and all. The seat on the left is the passenger seat….. no problem there….. 2 wires does it but the driver seat to the right was electronically connected to the seat preset controls on the door. A totally different big ole can-o-worms! Forget either AC units in the seat, those controls were on the dash…… I had to pin out the electronic seat switches to connect them passive like the passenger seat…. what a mess! Still not sure if it will work.. I really needed to be alone for this one…….. we’ll see what we have today.
Anything worth doing is worth trying…. saving my plunking time to here and 5 days a week….. you know I can’t even follow my own rules! But I am going to try… I t5hink it will work out better this way. Seems like there are more than enough opinions on the social networks for now and with time at such a premium for me, I just have to stay in the business and off this dad-blamed computer! So lets try this for a while… don’t be surprised if I post on a weekend but hey, lets save that time to recharge…….. I appreciate your participation in this communication venue. Not many have used it but there’s a “post a comment” at the end of each post. If there was something you have more questions on or would like to see about today’s subjects give me a post. I can make things better that way. Oh and please do not feel I’m ignoring you if I don’t post back right away….. I don’t frequent the lap top during the day. If you have something pressing please call me right then. It takes less time from my day if you call me…… I may swallow gum but I can talk to you while I work…….. the best way if you have something important to you. Also as a rule, I don’t get involved in “Linked in” and all that other stuff…. it all looks good and great way to network but I just don’t have the time in the day. Please, it’s nothing personal I’m just swamped! SWAMPED with really supporting folks asking really good questions and looking for very important information……. I really enjoy helping out and really I think I can help if you want to call……. just understand every day is a crazy one but information and help is important too. So you’re not bothering me when you call…. lets just roll with that… thanks for the support and call when you need to.
OK, Nathan is out in his truck having an Eggamuffin……. I can see daylight, supposed to be super humid and 91 degrees….oh boy! Kick-the-tire-an-light-those fires, it’s a new day, a new week with more fun at hand… see ya later…….
