The Co-op: we put it back together

I have to get a lookover at the doc this morning….hey, getting old ain’t for sissies …..so I’ll get back with you here when I get back but late this evening out first pull from our put away “Duramax Flare kit” molds came back from reworking.  Take a look at THIS!  Picture your coach here…… Yeah baby, wrap up in something more suiting you personality..…..  I’ll pull out pics of what these can look like.  Some folks love it other don’t….. fair enough…..I like it  Talk to ya later

Oops, got back and there went the day!  I’ll pull those pics in the morning…..I’ll “UPDATE” this post to finish the thought .

In the meantime, I ran into something you may never see and it may never happen to your coach but it may answer why your turn signal lever is loose.

Installing a cruise control in a coach, I was replacing the original turn signal/ cruise button stalk with one with the new electronic, servo controlled….no vacuum…..cruise control.

So the original stalk comes out, the data cable is fished down the column and the new unit has controls.

Step 1 of the control stalk process is to remove the steering wheel to access the 1 screw that holds the turn signal stalk in place  .Look into the slot and you will see the screw hole in the white plastic turn signal switch assembly..see that dark brown crack running from the screw hole?  That was probably made when bubba tongued that metal screw into that non threaded hole and snapped it!  Its been there the entire time.  If I put the new cruise/ turn stalk back in the sides on the slot will be pushed out …open up the hole and……..fail.  Grinding the sides of the new stalk a bit the screw will bite flat like it originally did.  It may have a bit of movement but the screw gets good purchase.  I did that and got the rest of that cruise control in today AND convinced my doc I was fine…..just….fine……….

So that was my say.  Cruise controls have been a subject here in the US.  There’s pretty much 1 aftermarket cruise control brand available here in the lower 48.  For now let me say Rostra and I have been installing oodles of those little things with good result.  Time and technology march on but for now ill set up another harness for a Rostra cruise control install tomorrow……..after the flare pics….no that’s wait before or after I talk about maybe having someone who can splash a 2 sided part from our original SMC molds?

Oops, let that one out…..its simply amazing what can be made today!  So lemme close the day out and say stay tuned for more on that….. See ya later guys…

Gotta get to work but let me show you another project we’re finishing up…….I call it “The Wine Boat”.  Stay tuned to see this go out…..What is it?  Its been converted to a 12 passenger wine tour limo for upper New York!  Yup, we can do that too….see ya tomorrow
