The Co-op: Time for some love for JayGee

Yoh know WHY it’s said “the plumbers pipes always leak?  Its because I never have time to work on MY stuff!  I see guys in the restoration business driving awesome rigs…..I’m doing something wrong……..No, not the paint…..that’s “custom” but for a while I’ve neglected the fresh water system on JayGee.  I don’t get to go out much but last week using it a couple of night I got tired of flushing the toilet with a gallon old coolant jug……..so yesterday I went diver down under the dedicated bed I had built ingood thing the platform was built with accessing the tank in mind.  One 2×4 brace and the tank was out.  Now comes the task of repairing the floor damage and mold where the floor under a roll out sheet good floor had held the water……in Florida that will easily grow mold not to mention a number on 45 year old plywood.Still with some solid structure and taking into consideration I KNOW I’m not going to have time to take out the bed to totally replace the floor.  Hey remember it’s MY coach…..no time so first ill put a fan on the floor for a couple of days.  Then dig out the bad wood ill mix a slurry of tiger hair and regular polyester resin and patch the damage.

A new tank…..not only was the gravity fill broken and rigged, you can see the rusty residue from where the sender had years of seeping.Note the rust stains under the sender.  Now JayGee being a 1973 model, the original sweated on copper plumbing had failed all over making piping like thisNice!  Hey, it was only leaking a little…..until it started leaking more……of course.  If you own a 1972 model with copper pipes……I would replumb the critter.  Kinda like a house needing replumbing from the Chinese copper pipes……. 1975 and on the coaches are plumbed with plastic.  Good idea!  So with what I found an fresh tank, new plumbing and floor repair is in my future…..I guess from midnight to 4am………no water again for a while!

Jared and Phillip beat me to work this morning…….. Phillip bought an old lawn tractor to make a kid buggycHeck it out…..its a Cub Cadet/ International Harvester!worg a trucker ball!  His sons first ride……..his son is a lucky boy!  Yep, bet we’ll restore that too.

Ok, 8am…..the day is on….see ya tomorrow…….
