The Co-op: The goings on

Its getting harder to come up with headers when I’m just showing a days battle report.  Posts like this maybe don’t need a title…….just more about the hot pile maybe.

Doing the B’s&B’s (bearings and brakes) on a recently purchased coach…..the goal being get rid of old parts and increase reliability. Renewing old parts….after 40 years the convential SOP would be replace shoes, repack bearings and install new seals……that’s what mechanics are used to doing.  On the 40 year old monsters it ALL GETS replaced .Not just that but taking it even 1 step further with this coach…….over the years modifications are made of course trying to improve thing but in reality go to reduce reliability or serviceability .The coach was fitted with bigger shoes which meant all of the hardware kits were modified .  all of that stuff has to come out. I mean if I get the unique parts to put this back together like it is my bet is it will be hard to find replacement parts in the future . The backing plates were not welded….some were so in that case the backing plates would be changed too.  There are many “better ideas” folks did over the years.  Back all of that out if you pick up a coach sporting that stuff.  You need to have your coach serviceable…..funky mods come and go, you should not keep that stuff..It runs….stay tuned….ok see u guys later……..
