……….. This weekend Ross V. Shoes pics of his freshly restored Jurassic Park Jeep that will be his towd for this, his Stripes “EM-50” urban assault vehicle. Our paint wizards are working hard in this non descript shop, little do folks know what’s underway inside our secured military installation
inside is, well something I’ve wanted to do since I saw the movie……here it is, all we need is Dr. Vinkman and that other guy sitting propped up on its side
no I’m Sorry, they sat on this side
wwhatever side it is, it will hopefully be as accurate as the towd. Now THAT rig will decently stop traffic! This is the wet sanding process on the first 2 coats of clear…..from that another 3 coats of clear over that smoothed surface and then the wet sand and buff to 3000 can begin.
This is NOT the cheapo paint jobs recently promoted on Facebook. Why would you devalue your coach putting cheap paint cheaply on your classic coach? Guys, don’t do it! Be proud enough of your 45 year survivor to do a proper exterior refinish. Buying a case of foof spray cans hoping for a good looking, long lasting finish you will be proud of does not happen that way……sorry.
As I verbigulized yesterday a cheap paint job is just that. Paint shops don’t make more money doing a really nice job, they make more doing little body repair and prep then shoot cheap paint. Hey, it may look good for a while like an Earl Scheib squirt job but time will show anyone with an eye what you really did! Don’t get in a hurry, do your exterior refinish when you can do it right……..
Moving on, as most of you know we work with more classics than just the GMC, Our guys are much more than 1 trick poniesThe 72 Revcon is all but ready to go, a few gremlins to kill, the papered up windows on the Airstream on the right was done to shoot the all new interior with our epoxy texture process
The trailer was totally striped on the interior, the new interior was al newly installed then Jared’s metamorphosis process makes the interior look better than new
BTW, this process also works awesome in the GMC as well.
Had a post asking more about Phillips rat truck. Here is the 5.0 stuffed in his 79 Ford pickupnoye the Ford fi system complete using the original Mustang factory harness…..badass! Then there is his bone yard rear air ride system
Thats one of those goofy York’s compressors turned by a Ford starter motor welded to an old roll around compressor tank. Pulls @ 80 amps when running………..I’d say just the right amount of overkill! The motor fired this morning after a weekends hard work on it. These guys are monsters….working like dogs…..I used to be able to do that!
Anyway, everyone here are having great fun, 4 days though we are all about labor on our restoration workflow so come back tomorrow and see what’s happening.
Our lift is lifting again so we’re set free mechanically…….see the carnage tomowwow. More fuel tanks biting the dust……good redanceand another puppy came in last week for a little love…..and the beat goes on
Really guys thanks for your visit and your support…..if nothing exciting is on Facebook come here……..we’re always hammered!
(Update on 1 wire alternator)
Its been brought to my attention there’s a rebel thread on the GMC Net that the brain trust of the group have decided the circuit would not work as described. There WAS a mistake on the drawing…….the original alternator on the drawing was labelled “1 wire alt.”. Kim is doing a super job at offering us really good enthusiast reading….. . .much better than the old Motorhome Marketplace but a small typo like that is really no big deal. The rest of it though is correct and in having battery shut off switches on all batteries (what, you DON’T have that?)….shame on you everything is safe and reliable.
So this “brain trust” reminds me of Pappy O’Donnel’s brain trust from the movie “Oh Brother where art though”.
The reason I don’t do the GMC Net anymore is there are so many people that want to be heard wether they are right or wrong and work hard to punch holes in anything anyone says that differs from them
To disconnect the nichrome circuit and to have a higher 130 amp alternator that ramps up output as rpm’s increase far overshadows any other issues or things involved. You can install a combine switch along with the battery shut off switches, we always do. Personally I travel with all batteries tied together only separating them when dry camping.
I appreciate those on the net that have told me of what’s going on there, the ones that are heading the insurrection up…..you are part of the big problem for the next GMC community coming up. There are improvements and technology that are solving problems. If you are listening to all that and want the real story call me on my personal cell number 321.299.5707 and I’ll give you the real, unabashed truth. Enough on this………drop the Mic!
