The Co-op: Ruby is starting r o finish out.

And its not like….BOOM…..and its all done!  The dirty little secret all those designer shows and such on TV gloss over the concept of time when they talk about all the cool things they want you to covet!  I’m going to get your attention, Ruby is going on to a 4 year project to what you see right there!  Yep…..spoiler alert on every show you think is the most “real”………custom stuff takes time and anyone saying they can do anything That’s worth doing in half the time …now both must be professionals in the industry not cutting corners for speed……I say to them they are either a non profit tax status of cheating your customers!

There is no time compression machine and ……well if you walk at a brisk pace (@ 3mph) u will walk 3 miles in an hour.  That fact cannot change.  If it takes 10 hours to DA sand well the nose section of the coach but someone did it in 5……..he wither ground grooves with a heavier grit paper…..or did less effect on his sanding……period.  Materials cost vary sometimes greatly on quality.  The industry will sell you the best and crappier over the same counter.  The more popular materials are the cheap stuff…….why?  Tighter budgets, more profits….”hey, no one will know”.  Like the insurance commercial points out that the thief is talking about his robbery  on the owners door bell……runs over his motorcycle on tape!!!!! What!!  What!…”it happens”……….cheap paint materials happens all the time.  You will spend $2500-maybe $4000 for materials….. quality watchers, sealers, primers, sand paper etc. can cost.  See all that can be profit to the painter and unless you really knew paint you would never know!  I feel its criminal!

Oh and that 150 hours labor on paint, try twice that on Rubywhy did the restoration take over 3 years?  Ruby is fitted with one of the most difficult drive train swaps ….that’s always debatable but still stuffing a Hum V turbo-diesel drive train, Kubota diesel generator not of course talking about an interior that just got its flat screento the last wire there is hanging from the hoodsit’s the Rach. trigger.  Hey, getting a purple on a motor that does not have an ignition system isn’t easy!  Especially an aftermarket gauge!  Hey, we’re working on it and Ruby is finally nearing the flightline.  From the UK, it’s new stewards will be flying in for a holiday in the states with Ruby.  A vacation but also a crews shakedown.  Even from across the pond the extra time in getting the coach ready to leave port is just as important……for them its a long flight to the UK but even cross country you need to take the same shakedown process when picking up a 45 year old machine.  So many frustrating issues could evaporate if we all just stood back a minute and look over and understand all that was done…….all that wasn’t done and how to operate and maintain the machine.  Stay the night in it at the shop…..take a drive and see Kennedy Space Center, Disney, Universal, Sea World….I mean dang!  Make sure your literally antique motorhome is working right before leaving Florida….the happiest place on earth……some say!  So Ruby is moving closer……stay tuned for more…….

The Monday morning meeting over…….the lift is open….Ed, you go up for your new single tank and you should be doneThe new tank in this puppy, soon its going to be him and me on my test driveMr. Clean is all but ready for that big ride soon tooand the crazy powder coated suspension…huge tired 23′ coach project is starting to get back in the QL is happy the week is started, she gets the run of the lot with the doors open…..wish that’s all I had to worry about in life……of course having the wood dense at the side door helped outso we’re all doing our thing on a Monday…..no GMC all weekend means I’m ready to go and hey, look what the extreme RV world has come up with………Now THAT’S a deer stand!…….See ya later
