Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"

The Co-op: Quality, Price, Speed…..pick only 2 becauseall 3 will never happen.

Now when we say this everyone will agree but in the next sentence folks still want all 3.  What do I mean?

There was a thread on Facebook started by a good friend who said more than pictures and sensationalism true communication of thoughts and ideas do not need such aids.  If we are truly interested in a subject you need to push you reading attention span…and if you are truly interested in understanding price, quality, speed then read on.  It tell you its pretty important.

So now that I hope I have your attention……or put you fast asleep, let me explain further.

Working exclusively on vintage TV’s is exactly like bringing back a 100 year home up to today’s use.  Everything must be considered with most things in dire need of adding new things.

===========

HOW good will all of that turn out…I mean are you sure reinforcing that floor will straight up that wall?  The old house has been added to so many times….hey and the wiring is cloth covered!

HOW much is it going to cost to fix all of that AND add new central air conditioning….along with anything else we run into while doing everything.

HOW long is this going to take?

=====!!!!!!!????

There it is, everyone want to go into any project with a “trifecta”.  This relationship is totally unexaptible.  For the customer, for the poor sap under the gun to guaranty something he cannot!

Here’s one of the best analogies:

This is a discussion of totally rebuilding the 100 year old house I live in with Janie but it also describes every restoration we take on here at the Co-op.

They are the same in that the same issues must be considered.  If fact most new buildings are easier and costs less to simply mow down that quaint old bungalow and plant an all new structure….why?  Its easier to build it all new……..

B right back

It turned 8am and we had to get the guys going but now that I am determined this must change finishing this though right now is pretty important to everything to me.   We must come to an understanding on this.

Just got a text to at least throw in a couple of pics to keep our interest……ok….how about removing the rear suspension to replace the high pins.   So bunky, do you have the tools, parts, expertise and the talent to do something like that?  How about thinumb and    We can because its exactly what we know and can do……ok, there’s a few pic that I want to prove my point

So I said all that to say……..all the guys and I love to mess with these unique coaches and want to do everything the customer wants……..BUT and you might label me a butt for saying this but…..to all the folks who have projects in here…. If you must have a date your coach will be ready and you can book a ticket and make a plan to use your coach….make that date 1 week from today because we are stopping work on your project and it can leave actually today!  I WILL NOT SUBJECT A CUSTOMER, MY WORKERS OR MYSELF TO DELIVERY DATE DEMANDS!  Am I serious…I am and I have told every customer this fact that has anything in here!  I CANNOT PROJECT WHEN ONE OF THESE WILL BE DONE!

It’s only a guaranty that any problems caused by whatever will overshadow all the other awesome work.   One issue and that’s all you can see.  So don’t even look in the oven until the cook says the cake is done!

I will not waste time and energy fussing something or taking responsibility for cutting edge engineering until everything has been checked.

I guaranty you do not get a delivery date taking a project to Lad Vegas and American Restoration …..one customer dropped the comment on Counts Customs that building his pickup took 4 1/2 years to show it on TV for 4 minutes!

So I’m not putting us on their pedestals but ill tell you it will ALWAYS take more time and more money to do any quality project…..faces it…..fast work does not live in a specialty shop….and it never will.

So if you have a project in here and do not feel we’re being fair…brother I cannot do work for you.

I literally have a guy who just bought a coach and wants… No must pick up his coach from us for a white knuckle drive to Oregon to beat the snow.  Brother, snowfall has nothing to do with the issues on your coach.   Your project will fail….I will not take responsibility for that project or any other with timetables like that!  NO, you just cannot expect any successes doing that……or putting a delivery date on anything having to do with ANY vintage vehicle.

Am I upset…no just disappointed that no matter how many good things we do are thrown under the rug when something that needs more time causes problems.

Ok, so my single plunking finger I use on this phone is numb and after probably making everyone think I’ve completely lost it…I just want to say…don’t shoot, I’m just the piano player trying to keep up the beat.

Comments and contrasting opinions are welcome.

There has to be a better way to store and deliver fuel than with these original ₩¥¿^[¤ΩθГ¬μ fuel tanks for fuel injection.  We have so many bandaids on that system there’s no skin left……stay tuned and we’ll see you tomowwow
