The Co-op: More stuff

I think probably the hardest part of each days post is coming up with a post title…….the web gurus say it needs to reflect content for SEO.  OK, so I think “more stuff” while maybe being a cop-out ……..getting stuff done…..pretty much says it so here’s some stuff for today.

Above is a full sheet of “Avonite” solid surface material made of bowling ball material……hard stuff!  We had to round up all of the clamps to adhere the lip to the countertop for our wine tour bus projectwwith this new countertop done and installed one one more issue in that project……stay tuned.

And bringing this Rumplstilkskin back from an 8 year sleep the more we replace the more we find. Now at least mechically sound Jason starts in on the fresh water system first replacing all the obvious stuff…..the fresh water tank had cracked and the fresh water pump must have reached its half life cause it had no pressure.iinstalling the new tank and pump, water in the tank….flip the pump on and the water heater started pouring water out the bottom!  Yep, it’s rusted out.  Had Jason bypass the water heater so we could continue our investigation…..write that part down, stay tuned to see what more we find……

Oh boy….our Santa….that’s the UPS man dropped off 2 boxes….54 pounds each…..wonder what it is?We have this 1973 critter up in hover mode going after the rear suspensionthis 73 is in hover mode for new wheels and tires but also a break checkout and a quad bag system…..Ah,  THATS what those 2 big heavy boxes are……and here’s the proud new owner of the coach AND his new quad bag rear suspension We could have had them cut our with a torch then painted black but no, these components were precision water jet cut then jig welded and gold zinc annodized for that look….and of course protection from rust.  I’m proud of having a hand in their design, computer failure tested and with the option to not put you on a flat bed when something goes wrong with 1 or even 2 of your 4 rear wheels…..we’re pulling out the set of “Bobs” (big ole bag)the previous owner rigged in thereim sorry but I have to be honest,  the diameter of this bag will allow the huge adapter plates to hit the inner liner.  With 30psi the ride is like sitting on a bouncy ball.   As you can see, the left side of the bag is designed for lateral movement but the right side is not which might allow the rubber bag pinched to the template to pull apart.  Guys, any bag that is pinched together is not designed for the 2 sided lateral movement our rear suspension has.  None to my knowledge have pulled apart but designing in a flaw on any system is not a good idea.  Don’t mean to diss whoever is making these things but please don’t drink that punch!

See, I couldn’t put down my plunking without probably upsetting some of you……..sorry but all of that is true.  Biggest and in my mind the ONLY draw back is the price…..guys, who SAID because these things are old you can do cheap fixes.  Do that and your coach will end up a forever project!

So again, stay tuned and watch this coach come back to the road……….like it or not, this is what you must do if you want to actually go somewhere with a 45 year old machine!

My day off so I’m outa here……like the post title said…..”more stuff”.  Thanks for dropping by and we’ll see you again…………….
