So, before we get into it today, I wanted to thank all of you for participating in my Daily Pose. this week there have been greater hits on the page than ever before….guess some of the stuff is interesting or there’s absolutely nothing else to do than watch an Indian head test pattern………. for whatever reason thanks or I’m sorry……..
There IS a pile of stuff going on around here, some may blow air through their nose holes when something is neat or better than they could do. Guys, it’s not about that, I’m just honored to be a part of a team like this with a machine to play with like this at a time when they are something special for many. I didn’t think it would take this long in that in 1991 I fell off the cabbage truck and landed here. Hey no regrets I guess, other than loosing my brown hair over this and Janie swears my knees were given to jumping in and out of these things fo0r over 2 decades….for whatever reason it’s been a wild ride and getting wilder..…
And for you guys that have their noses pressed up on the computer screen, yeah, I spend valuable time doing this every day but if I didn’t you would have peed in your pants wondering what’s happening with my coach……… At least this way you can feel part of the movement where your baby is at. It won’t take any less time and these crazy things like what’s next also is not dragging things out. If the guys didn’t have an outlet for their frustrations on these 40 year old……..old machines……….hey, I went through years of trying to buck the system and try to offer “all 3”. After this long and this much experience at it, there’s just no way to pressure quality. Say it this way, pressure……..quality. So don’t freak when you see stuff like this
What was once 2 completely different things are now 1
Holy crap what a motor stand!!!!!! Take the stupid big tires out of the equation, we did that to give us some working room back there to weld Yes, this will be the last motor simply fired up on the ground before installation. After this puppy goes to it’s new home, every motor and transmission we use will be driven…..maybe to Daytona and back! Driving a drop top 76 Mercedes…rear 455 Olds drive train…….. rock-n-roll convertible……..soon gentlemen this will happen!
Moving along with more nonsense to brighten your day, we are at the end of phase 1 of the wedding photobooth kiosk The entire side of this vintage Airstream trailer motorizes open to let that “Adams family pose” take place. Also a rent-out multi-use on location space The customer is now picking interior colors of walls and the floor. The concept works, it had to be seen and experienced at this point before phase 2 could begin. When the interior is in, the exterior will get the iconic polish……… cool man!
So back to business a little, the “air over” part of out 6 ton floor jack blew out……. Katlyn though has figured out how to operate that jack without any help…….. that’s a hard worker! Oh stop….was that sexist? No, hey she smiled…… look those jacks are hard to raise…I mean lift \\\\ whatever…. Katlyn is very talented and resourceful……I mean smart, talented and has an eye for cool stuff. Check out her freshly painted truck
Ahwww, the metallic show up so nice in the evening sun, can’t see it here…….anyway EVERYONE in our team are total professionals!
Hey Tom, your walls are made and getting ready to be textured . Stay tuned and as it turn out…we’re also doing David’s walls the same process and color
AND Ruby ALL at the same time!
More later, it’s 8am….gotta make the donuts………..see ya later
Back from the brink, the guys have their orders….we have some “pressure point” we need to try at least to wrap up. See, with my crystal ball out of batteries and stuff happening like the guy that thought I should pay his tow bill and more……it’s just damn had to impossible to know when a coach will pop out of the gate…..so much to consider but you try anyway…..there has to be drive or we’re all dead!
I’ve always said you have to be a little “special” to understand what these machines are all about………hey, I’m trying to be nice! Anyway it’s true, I’ve met so many interesting people who do interesting things. I’m risking embarrising 2 people but I want to introduce you to a couple who like I said, not unique to the GMC community as they would other places.
Yes, I have known them for a while…since they picked up a GMC Motorhome. They got a really ggod one, a 26′ “GMC II” totally rebuilt by Explorer Vans in the 90’s ….at the time the worlds largest van conversion business. There were only about 40 of these project completed
Over the years, we have had a great relationship with them even staying in my Mom’s place for a time while working on their coach. Anyway, all that’s not that unusual…we all have a nice motorhome we love just the way they are….or you’re making plans to fix that….no, this is what gives them the badge of being in this august group.
The unique thing about this couple is they have been and are still original, Appalachian style potters. And I mean they really got into their craft! I really have appreciated their friendship and yes, I too thought being a real, honest to goodness potter would be a neat way of life. Not until I received this in the mail did I understand the depth of their collective work and how they are outstanding in their field. 52 years in clay.
Here’s the couple going in……….. check out the kissing cats May look like a couple of hippies but they made something of those days. So today they are still a couple ans as Graham Nash said: “They are one person, they are 2 alone, they are 3 together they a for eachother…..” Congratulations Julie and Tyrone, get drunk on the fruits of your labors.
If you are in the area please go see their work….and buy something…they are still….potters!
And with that, we’ll see ya tomorrow .
