The Co-op, it’s “Redneck Lullabye” time again…

After a valve train clearance issue…. you can see how Joe Mondello had designed this very special set of Morell hydraulic roller lifters with the alignment crossbas on the bottom with an anglecut lifter body to fit under our concave low intake manifolds  Full mech motor 3  Even doing that there had to be some block relief for them to clear.  Picking up the finished motor the annnnticcccipation is growing  Full mech motor 1  And now we are ready, pull out the motor checkout stand and lets get it on…. Full mech motor 2  This is a 1966 Toro front clip on wheels…… as much of a job it is to install a motor into our GMC motorhome, we always run the motor on the ground before installation.  Can’t check everything on this stand but we can run the motor up, check oil pressure, leaks and the balanced rotating assembly.  Phillip and his gal (both mechanics…. hey, she’s a diesel mechanic herself!) are now installing the motor for the run in…. Full mech motor 5 So we should feel the “Earth move under your feet…” very soon.  I call it the “Redneck Lullabye… that’s a big block running on the ground….. yeah man, in the ole days this is what it was all about….. Firing that mother up!

Then Ada reminds me yesterday I have a talk with the Wanderlodge group over in Clearwater today at 11am for a Fire Safety seminar for Fire Fight Products.  Kinda like that Geico commercial…. Did you know Fire Fight Products is STILL the only fire suppression product targeting the RV market?  Hey… have you seen this new “fireball” you throw into a fire that explodes and pits it out?  That active ingredient is the same corrosive, caustic chemical in a dry powder chemical extinguisher!  Anything that powder touches is done for and brother don’t breath in that dust… you can burn your lungs!    I think the marketing premise on that stuff is “someone will buy anything if it looks good”.  Don’t drink that punch… stay away from dry powder chemical fire suppression systems….Larry-fire-Fight-3  Yes I need new windshields…..  .  “Douuuuuu”, I’ll miss the first fireup but I’ll have Hans.. my cameraman use our new GoPro camera and capture the event for us both!  Oh boy, man I’m glad we got in that camera in time.  Wonder how much dB that camera mic can handle?  You’ll havre to come back tomorrow and take a look.  I’ll see if I can put a link from here to the Patreon site where it will be on our “Motorhome Rehab Ranch” site.

Talking with my machinist we should have the shortblock (lower end) of the motor for the “Pickle” on Monday… fingers and toes crossed….. so it looks like it’s motormania around here right now.  Have no fear guys, Danavan, Brentley, Hans, Jered and the rest of the crew are busting it on other projects it’s just neat when a project hits a plateau like this.

So I’ll be on the phone but out of pocket most of the day.  If you’re at the Wanderlodge rally I’ll see you later today, we may be able to post some more depending on when I get back but tomorrow for sure I’ll be back with ya..

Oh, and thanks for the visit and your support…..
