Sorry for missing yesterday, I had such a mound of paperwork and the communications I’ve had here lately about the “Why do motors blow up” post seems that folks who know way more about physics and the natural world then me seem to agree. Everything is relative, depending on what gets in the way…. you know… things at rest and all that.
And as far as fuel injection goes, with these new design “self learning” uncomplicated fi systems coming out at a retail $1000 price point I have to do a 180 degree turn from my old opinion of “Q-jet forever”. It sucks but in todays world, with all the fluids we have to work with, carbs do not work as well as they did and it will only get worse.
Hey but understand it’s not for “Mo Powa”, mileage or any good thing like that….. no… it’s to try and band aide our old motors to just keep running today. Our motors were not designed or made like they built things in the 70’s. Our metal has had so many massive heat cycles and now to present them physics equasions they were never meant to live in……. I hate to say this but if you drive consistently over 60 mph, I have to say brother we are exposing critical parts of our drive train to things that can cause them to fail at a faster rate.
Yeah, us American don’t want to have any limits… freedom and all that but I’ll tell you these things are getting older every day, we are too and to drive these classic machines to their original limits well, it’s just not wise. Hey not always but if you look at any average you will see with good reason when you go on a trip in a new car the trip is about you and your fun….. go on a trip in a 40 year old machine and there has to be more attention spent on the machine.. for it to perform and if you mistreat them in any way wether you intend to or not… the outcome will always be the same.
And I have to tell you some people get it while others don’t. Some learn it the hard way while others sail along… I guess “God takes care of those that don’t take care of themselves” or is it “God gives you enough rope to hang yourself”. I don’t know but after dealing with this issue for 20 years, I really feel we have a strong hand hold on how to live better today with these machines.
I see this idea has captured our collective brain-trust of the GMC Net and is filtering in to Facebook when hopefully the next GMC generation will take heed and not fall into these and other traps. That’s all great, we must get our heads out of the comfortable sand we’ve been breathing for really a long time and take a good look at what this is all about.
No wait, I was supposed to talk about delivery week…… that thread seems to be self exciting now so yea, lets move on…. if you do have other riveting questions let me know but for now I think we’ve agreed there’s something to it…… Surf around, lurk a little and get more background yourself in this subject….
But really, delivery week is a big deal for us and really everybody involved in the Co-op. We hope to have the 57 Belair stretch limo hit the streets Friday. And it’s all true…. and I can’t tell you why but when delivery now has a face, seemingly millions of little Gremlins come out, small details mount up and everyone is scrambling to get every little thing done. It’s nuts but I was told by an auditor for military contracts and he said it’s a given even in his field! Raytheon, Boeing and I guess the rest stay up late nights too before something rolls out to make sure all that little stuff that makes a big deal are done!
OK, so if that’s how it has to be…… know it and bring it on! The Chevy interior is getting the drivers area and console trimmed out These all electric Cady seats are HUGE in that hole! Stay tuned tomorrow on how the center control console comes out. We have a Plexiglas bar trim going in, Ray routes the whole thing out in 1 piece…. awesome
Taking a looksee walk this morning it looks like it should go in today
I’ll be a wiring fool today connecting up the limo back to the front console. Stay tuned.
We actually had a delivery Friday on the 50 Ford pickup, the owner wasn’t feeling well so it’s ready too From it’s 4 wheel air ride suspension, 5.0.. PS, PB, auto, AC to it’s Black Gator bed cover
covering a pile of cool stuff this badass truck will be at the Turkey Rod Run at Daytona on Thanksgiving
. Yeah, we can do that! So you GMC guys relax, we’re doing all these things so we can keep doing this stuff
and taking this and turning it all new
Oh, BTW meet our drum brake specialist where your brakes here get a woman’s touch… met Katlyn who has the credentials to do this work being a certified diesel mechanic
Yep, we have equal employment here.
Alright, are ya still mad at me from yesterday? Hey, I missed it too!
Hey one other cool thing about today, our party from Switzerland is flying in today for a holiday in the US in their coach “Rock the Alps”. It’s plugged in and ready for a rumble. A cool pic as the sun rose this morning. Thanks for dropping by, I can see the numbers of visits is rising every day. Keep watching, we have things underfoot on our Patreon video outreach program and “Life is more than MPG” is launching soon…. all good and fun things. We’ll see ya tomorrow……
