On this awesome Friday, I sure hope yours is somewhere like Florida right now but besides that, bike week starting -, in the 80’s again with very little rain AND a GMC Sunshine Statesmen rally this weekend…. yes I get a little seat time, not much but I’ll take any I can get…. coming in early this morning after handing off the house and cat to Janies brother… I pulled over to the shop for at least a half days work…. I had a problem, there is no room at the shop! Well then, I’ll just have to put it out front
That’s Jim & Ada Galbavy’s coach first in line. Yep, we’ve done it … just like that little goldfish you put into a new large bowl…. it gets bigger! At 40 wheeled vehicles on the property, something has to go to let something in….. Our coach got kicked out a month ago exiled to the house.
You know, I kinda like the camo JayGee as the Tugboat pulling the barge
Anyway, my Dad told me no one knows what you can do but don’t tell them… show them. OK guys, I think you will agree that by now front starting this company my son Ray sweeping the floor, Janie answering the phone and me as head cook and bottlewasher to this….. it has become pretty serious!
I think I’m in the middle of what some look back and say “If I knew what it was going to take I may never have started…. All that said I will tell you now we are starting to really do some neat stuff. You must have quality assets to do quality work.. you need all the spokes in the wheel for it to turn…
Using the premise my Dad told me, I feel I need to show all of you out there just exactly what we ARE doing here now. If you take it I’m bragging please do not… but what we have put together is so unique there’s a good chance some of you out there don’t know…. So for those of you who see me bragging now, you can just head out for today, the rest of you understand you can’t do something without the knowledge and ability.. at least do it well. When I started out by myself I had to rely.. and still do on my contacts, vendors and other specific shops. You cannot be an island maintaining your motorhome and we as dealers cannot continue to grow our business without assets ourselves.
Time lines and costs are harder to keep up with when you have less control. Once one guy got sick and 1/3 of my shop was forced to shut down…… that simply can’t happen and once I thought it was impossible to get the work you wanted from others… and in a way that’s true, you must have a quality team… teamwork…. workers who care and have seen and done that work a time or 2….
It’s an indescribable feeling to see the shop grow as it has. With an in house upholstery shop and guys who know that trade right here…. we now work on stuff like this Hum V2 40′ stretch limo
and look in the background… those are GMC Motorhomes! Oh, I hear those Na Sayers right now…. Gaaaaa he’s bragging…. NO, gimme a raise of hands that did not know we also build out and maintain limousines?
Yesterday we also installed a new roof AC on this ice cream truck This food truck along with others are renting our powered bays as off time parking. No food prep though at this time…..
With “Rock the Alps” taking over our back shop for it’s new color… metallic grey
next to a 78 Ford 4wd pickup restoration project we also are doing dent repair for commercial businesses
and yes, The Green Machine GMC and unobtanium parts on palates in the front…… Where else are you going to see talent that can do all of this and have the facility?
While Danavan trims out JD’s generator and compartment the exterior is being stripped which puts him next in line for new colors.
So are ya still with me or have you too think I’m bragging…. Again I tell you NO… I am really proud to ba a part of such a thing yes but you need to know what we have accomplished and how all of this can impact you. I just heard the motor of my second mechanic show up…. yep on 2 wheels and that’s fine with me! Hard work and quality outcomes are what I want.
This is no brag it’s simply the fact now, we’re getting better every day. And I thank all of you, our customers and friends all thrown in there together that has helped us get here. Wayyyy to many people to name . Really this is a win/win business if we can keep things growing and I think we can.
The guys will be working like those proverbial ants while I bug out early for the SS rally…. that’s the way things should be… Russ and John D. are getting their new holding tanks today… Russ getting a maserator too. A new coach is coming in for mechanicals and the beat goes on….. see you guys later…
Brag all you want your shop is turning into a real professional restoration business centered on our GMC’s.
