The Co-op : Decisions were made ………

…….Always the question is not what to do but where to stop………. That’s always it, don’t tell your tech you want everything reliable… guaranteed!

This is a good example of how to find that fence top.  So the deal is….on a big trip, issues are found that needs consideration.

Ok, so yesterday you saw the wiped out bearing…..it was welded to the spindle…..got kinda hot but I’ll give it the beast stayed together till we got to it.the driver side front bearing was pretty loose w/o the the rear still needing attention.  Bearings read the samecolor and cage movement which said to me they were all old with the first one biting the dust!  Wwith no leaking found in the wheel cylinders and the shoes 1/2 worn, good idea to leave the brake system alone til his trip is done but do it all then.  Don’t tax the system with hard stops if possible and know there could be issues ………. We gave them a full set of aluminum air bag cones to pack away in case they have an issue but looking at what’s needed to finish the trip……… “Be Prepared”.

After exposure to the issues I have no doubt some of thes3 additional safety issues will be considered.

So the decision was to replace all the wheel bearings on 4 wheels…seals and to replace the ancient Delco shocks.  As the Italian waiter says as you place your order……. Good choice, that’s my favorite ” we found our balance…..they are back on the road…..safe and if things do occur before the journeys end they are aware……I like it.

This is how you must look at the maintenance of a 45 year old machine.  What can it use……..what does it need and what can you deal with will always be a factor……the factor in what your coach ends up.

Everything….forever is impossible.  We come and go, the Motorhomes stay…..how you keep yours will determine its future……….if you care then it’s important…..good night……see ya tomorrow

Oh dang…I forgot.  Look what showed up at the shop this afternoon……..one of 6 Coke “Gadabout” prize winning Motorhomes!………This rare machine is here for some work and to get ready for the GMCMI convention next month in Talahassee…….if you can come see what we do to it……

See ya tomorrow
