The Co-op, Can’t get work done with no one here

I’ve been pretty pleased with myself not having to serve cheese with my whining but this weekend took the cake!  Here’s a shot of the big house…. see anything missing?  Spacleys 350 14

All kinds of things to do….. yep but there’s no one here to work!  This is a problem I guess moreso here being in Florida on a beautiful weekend …. hey, who’s coming to work?  Answer: No One but us idiots!  Hey I’m here!  I stayed all day, got Spacely’s 350 about ready to fire up Spacleys 350 13  I dig those headers upside down with the mufflers up …. it should fire sometime today… that is if the guys can remember where the shop is!  Guys with projects here I’m sorry but without workers I cannot move forward.  If you do have projects in here, please call me today and lets discuss delivery times….. I’m sorry but there’s nothing I can do!

Not that NO ONE EVER shows up, we do get things accomplished just not in the timeframe we want.  It just may be a function of a restoration shop….. I just can’t accept that!   I have said this before but crystal balls don’t work in trying to set delivery dates especially when the workers don’t uphold their end of the bargain…. there’s no way to stay on it with todays workers….. being entitled to have a job isn’t the American way… we worked and died to make this country great, nothing worth doing happens without struggle….. I hate to bring negative stuff up, especially first thing but being the meat in a crap sandwisch with bread slabs made of workers and customers just can’t taste any good!  All I can tell you is I’ll be here and we will endeavor to persevere……

Like I said though, I did get the motor assembled on the stand, looks like a pile of work and it is but you MUST run a motor going into a GMC on the ground first.  better to know a problem before the work getting it in the coach!  Spacleys 350 12  We have 2 coaches back to back getting a quad bag rear suspension each, new rear brakes and bearings.  7.10.17 morning 8  One coach I gotta comment on this guys…. is this some of the air bag rig ups out there?  I’ve said “whatever” in the past but look at this crap, you mean you guys PAY good money for suck junk!  I must tell you any cluged up single air bag system like this is not what should be done.  No one ever told you owning and maintaining a vintage motorhome can be done on the cheapo .;….. these rear suspension retrofit are junk and do not help you….. OK, I’ll stop but look at what you could have… safer, more backups and easy to maintain.  This system is not!  Look below, this is a rigged up substitute, not a retrofit modification….. you may hate me to say all this but brother sometimes it has to be tough love! 7.10.17 morning 9 and on the other side was a prickly pear original air bag. 7.10.17 morning 3  This is not being a proper steward for your coach.  You and I come and go, these motorhomes will stay and do YOU want ME to talk about YOUR motorhome this way!  I’m sorry guys but the rear adjustable suspension is a real help in driving unless you have junk like this on your coach 7.10.17 morning 7 That mess had to be built in a hardware store!  Don’t do this stuff to your beautiful coach….. spend what it takes to have a safer, more reliable and helpful system to you on the road…. do this  quad bag and POR-15 1 or just save your money cause this is bullcrap  7.10.17 morning 1  and the nasty generator compartment will be de-assed getting a Honda EV-6010.  It’s a risk taking a coach out on the road with an unknown original Onan “troll”…. I’m just sayin…..

Ruby has her late model raised generator and LP compartments in cedric compartments 22  We raised the LP compartment 4″ and the generator box 8″  cedric compartments 21  Today I’ll finish sealing the boxes up and then we start building the bedroom…. big fun!

So check out the double ladder that was on Ruby in the start…. double ladders with a rail all the way to the front of the roof 41-ext-9.  41-ext-8

We’re reassembling the sections to send it off to be powder coated “almost chrome” color  Cedric rail 1  Stay tuned for more on this…..

I did have a good weekend myself even working the shop alone…. got a chance to take a ride on my “blackout” GL1000 .GL1000 black 1  2 wheels is my escape…… and I bout can’t believe it… a car I built over 26 years ago turned up less than 1/2 mile from the shop…. I’ll show ya pics of it when I had it but this 1950 Plymouth Business coupe was something I built way back… sad to see it like this today  Hemi 1

I put it together with a 241cid “Red Ram” small block Hemi if front of a 58 push button Torqueflite Mopar automatic, 390 welded gears, a Scintilla magneto with a street pack box!  If you know what all that is you know this was a cool car!  12″ chromed chain steering wheel… baby moons…… wonder what he wants for it?????  Naaaa, I’m past all that and it looks pretty sad still, I’m gonna go look at it for sure!

So today is a new day, I’m out for my obligatory breakfast then get back in here and try and make a difference.

Here is one of the drums off of the coach with the funky air bags…..  broken off shoes, totally brake fluid soaked… grease flaking out from the spindle……. and it drove in!  Guys, just cause your coach stops does not mean you are safe….. take a deep breath and pull a drum to take a look.  While it may be true God takes care of fools still, this is just not rite to drive on.  This was a recent purchase…. YOU MUST look at your “B’s & B’s” (that’s bearings and brakes) when you pick up one of thses coaches…. they may drive broken but YOU should not take that chance!  Trying the brakes you think… “Oh, they’re fine”.7.10.17 morning 2Come on guys… that is nasty!  The wipe line of the front of the wheel cylinder is all brake dust glued on by brake fluid!

I also got 2 sets of tires (12) trued and balanced to go on these 2 coaches .7.10.17 morning 4  And here’s the thing I did it with.. an Amermac 711 professional, antique truing machine …… MINE  7.10.17 morning 5  Perfectly round and balanced at any speed not just the mamby-pamby 3 speed balance all the tire stores do .. trust me, this is the better way.

So today is supposed to be clear and hot until 3pm when the rain moves in and you can bit the thick, wet air around here…. wish us luck…. thanks for coming by.  You know, I’ve not seen anyone else showing what they do during the day….. thanks for being a part of what we do.  Check us out on Patreon.com at Motorhome Rehab Ranch, give me a call if I can help you and thank you for your support.  You guys jelous on all the work we’re doing, all the fun we’re having and all the people that are supporting us?  Hey, stop being such a nimnose, put away your anger and come join us…… life is just too short for all of that “Paton Place” bullcrap…….
