The Co-op: Another weeks past and future

I have to admit that 2 days…or most of…. away from motorhomes and thinking hard is a great thing to get Monday going.  A morning bike ride…thinking of all those hangovers a Bike Week just up the road and I can see the sunrise without pain….it’s a great thing!.  And digging out my yard with Janie after what feels like decades of neglect feels rewarding.  I’ve put way too much of my life into this business over the years but in defence I had to hold the dream together until I could find others truly enthused to do stuff like this too.  Took 20 years and some heartbreaking disappointments but we’ve made it.  As part of my morning duty is to fire up the lights.  Here is the shop from my hideout loft 3.19.18 morning 3

What a calming sceme, at least for me.  Through help from many friends and those that just want to do this, we are growing and doing so much more not that it boggles my mind.  Oh we’re still passed up like the turtle and the hare by Jiffy Lube and others who say they know what they’re doing and are cheaper and faster…….brother there is just no short cuts doing this stuff.

A guy called me last week wanting help diagnosing his brake system……. first I asked him a few questions.  1. how long has it been since the system was flushed? 2  Do you know the age of his rear and front brake hoses?   Then I let him tell me the problem he had and what he had tried to fix it.

Now guys look…… this is a 40 year old machine, there is NO president of a vehicle of any kind that old being expected to operate exactly the same of better than when it was new

If you do not know the time since the last brake flush (which BTW should be no longer than 2 years) the entire system is suspect and should be completely checked over if not just replaced.

IF you do not know the age of your brake hoses, 6-8 years is all a nitril rubber brake hose should be expected or even hopes to last.  With the rear hoses not on a parts stores shelt I would tell you at least 25% of the brake work we do find 40 year old…original….rear beake hoses (if the outer shoulder of the manifold that has the bolt through it at the middle is rounded…it is an original 40 year old hose…..back away from your coach slowly!!!!!!

Bunky, it less about what to do but where to stop!  Not trying to be funny or cute but that’s it!  There are so many parts near the end of their useful envelope if you fix one it’s like plumbing….fix the big leak and the next one starts to flow.

Got so much more to show you like stuff like this 3.19.18 morning 12  Jared just pulled up so lets get the day going….I’ll be back later……..
