The Co-op: A couple of realities of a GMC you need to pay attention to

Mr. Clean got one more night in the penthouse suite before getting fuel in his new fuel tanks and then it MINE for a test drive!  Oh boy!

But what I was talking about in the post title has to do with many calls I’ve fielded over the past 2 weeks.  Folks genuinely interested in making informed decisions going into one of these machines.  I’m not going to categorize by generation but I will tell you I have found way to try and explain how things are to each.

Was talking with a very excited younger guy who I really feel gets it and helping him ……don’t think of him as homeless…..has been carrying on all the normal things all of his coworkers were doing…. Except he has been living in his pickup truck.  When he started telling his coworkers the started looking at him as homeless……but he already beat that stereotype and is waiting for his generation to catch up!  Very cool but that not what I was wanting to point out………a completely true basic statement:  “If you buy a GMC for less than $10,000, THAT will be the smaller of the 2 checks to get it truly mechanically safe”.

Guys, the actual cash price to purchase the coach is far outweighed by the condition…..how the coach had been maintained and how long it’s been sitting.  Making an offer on a coach without having someone actually look at it is not as good of a bet to have spent tour money wisely.  The condition is everything.  I tell folks to have a prospective coach mechanically surveyed by a constant mechanic before making a deal.  Some basic things need to be verified.

Again, quibbling about $1000 yes, is nothing to sneeze over but you could spend that immediately on something that should have been known about before the sale.

These things are old and represent 45 years of good intentions by someone who cares but what standards and abilities did the guy who did all of it and can you figure out what is there…..understand it and be able to work on it?  You need to be in that place with your coach.    Not that you have to DO the work but you need to at least be aware enough of your coach to recognize issues and have things attended to.  Without that basic involvement you should spend some research time to get to that point.   I spend much time one on one explaining these things…..this recent conversation, the gut went into my web site and said he was able to understand more of what I was talking about……..hey, that’s great!  You guy lusting after one of these……my web site is 20 years of throwing information in a bucket……. But he said it was kinda fun to dig deep and learn so much……so let me invite you to try that.  Wander around in my Ikea maze and see what’s these.  Please, some prices and things are old so you malineals I’m not matching prices there……  That’s one of those generational caveats ……….sorry.  But this is a pile of stuff on the site……blame my Mom but I want to answer questions.  So if you’re wondering about something….cruise around my web site on the subject a bit then give ma a call.  It may help you.

We attract enthusiastic owners because we feel that way too……and that’s all good but some of the questions can get pretty deep.  You’re right by investigation carefully before you get involved and if you already have one consider things before you do them.

gor 3 hours of seat time in Ralph yesterday on a delightful @100 mile drive to Jeff Sirums down in Okeechobee……..Between Halopaw and Okeechokee…..just down South 441 from Kenansvilleis the crossroad town called Yeehaw JunctionA good distance from the nearest town,Yehaw Junction got its name from the cowboys who named the bar and motel that for the features the place offered……….hey, this IS a kids show here!  Its was a sunny Florida day out across the flat padturlands…..THIS is real Fits FloridaThis is “Florida flat”.  Its flat in many places but it’s not like this So if you’re traveling in Floida, come by the shop in Flolando…..parking on pavement with 50 amps is $10 per night, a 2 hour 2 lane good road thru true Floida to Okeechobee and Jeff Sirums place where he can put back on everything that fell off since it left us!  That sounds terrible!  I think you have the idea, its a great drive with help on both ends………….

Crap, 8:30, I need to get to work……..see ya later……..
