The 🇺🇸 Co-op: so here’s the Flaming River steering column next to the OEM column

.Here’s the new column...In the coach shifter connection and slip shaft slime count is correct on the inside were dropping the column 1 1/2″ from its original position to put the tiltand the connections are the standard GM harnesses am plug in..…….. So you might ask why spend that King of money to replace something that’s already there?  The steering column does many important things and is under use any time the car moves…… Ignition key, emergency flashers, turn signals, cruise control control, a column lock mechanism, upper and lower bearings and a “double D” universal.  Any of that stuff fails and it’s diver down into the column for delicate repairs on a very worn part.  If the damage is great enough…… Understanding that labor is the money sucking pig of the world…..in this case it’s cheaper to just buy a new column and throwing the entire original column out….The guys dropped their tools working this project when we closed the shop.  As soon as we get back going this project will get back going……stay tuned

Not much today……hope to drive Eleganza out to Narcoossee tomorrow, I’ll try and do pics.  See ya then
