Sorry for the time away……….. I’ve been doing…….. Stuff. Was all good…..

………. Trying to catch up maybe a little, Lincoln’s NEW sensitized brake booster in inthere’s been a bunch of discussion and some confusion on replacement boosters.  Lemme give you my “101” on boosters.  If it gets boring remember there’s always esc.:

So yes, there’s nothing fancy in fact it was the go to booster for most GM cars of the day.  EXCEPT the GMC booster which has a unique length push rod.  And no, it’s not a simple matter of changing the rod in the field.  It must be installed as the booster goes together.

So you say super, let’s just have the original one rebuilt……..good idea but all the internal parts to our original booster are not available so any booster with standard thread nuts (all new boosters will have metric nuts supplied) so installing a booster with original nuts will mean you have regurgitated parts in your brake system!  Not on my lot!So why do I want you to buy our booster?  Hey, I just want you to use a new one!  It would probably come from a GMC supplier and should cost @ $250.  No shipping expense for your old booster…float it in your fish pond…..would probably kill the fish so maybe not.

You know it’s a new one, it will come with new metric nuts.  There are folks who modify their brakes to some other system…..see that’s the great thing about living in 🇺🇸 America , we all don’t have to agree but as far as work we will do, we make no changes to the original system as to not effect your liability.  Brother if you modify your brakes and hit someone because of brake failure your insurance folks can cancel your insurance…..and in driving a 12,000 pound projectile you may live to be blamed for the accident……dont take that chance.  These booster are manufactured by a major manufacturer and is the same design as OEM.

When should you replace you brake booster?  If you do not know it has been replaced an you have issues with your brakes…..replace it along with every other piece of the system……yes, it’s that important.

So this is the love Lincoln’s baby is getting…..the stripes may say 80’s but by gosh he will stop this critter!Hope to come back this weekend for some more goings on……see ya then
