So since its the day off from GMC stuff, lets talk about an Airstream project we’re into…….

……… Working on the Chevy 454 is a matter of “diver down” in the tunnel…..the first thing you must do is remove the radiator that we had to anyway…..it was wastedwith the end goal adding FiTech fuel injection, we need to know the condition on the motor….….the question isn’t what to do but where to stop!  And just like just about every 455 and 403’s we work with, this 454 Chevy has a loose timing chain too……..Hey, no big deal, we see all this every day, it’s just not accessed the same way.  Thank goodness they THOUGHT about things.  We have a Clark Cortez that you have to remove the entire front clip with the drive train to install a drive shaft!  These and other reasons is why this year we have changed our focus to more GMC work than things like this.  Doesn’t mean any of these classics are less worthy….it just means I want my guys to get better and better on our GMC’s………..

As soon as David gets the front of the motor buttoned up, the CVF Serpantine belt system installed and the recorded radiator back in he will be installing a new aluminum intake with no exhaust passthru.  The Chevy parts are so inexpensive it costs less to put in a new intake opposed to cleaning then adding as block off plates……..see its not that way for out Olds motors plus the fact that to keep our flat floor upfront the original concave original intake is preferred.  The process works 100% but in this case for this Chevy 454 it’s better to put in a new one…..stay tuned for all of that..Yep….a Argosy/Airstream Tribute with Serpantine belt, FiTech fuel injection, maybe a Monster tranny……ye ha…..hold my beer…….this will be the baddestass aluminum Canolli tube on the planet! This will be a fitting final Airstream project…..its starting to get fun!…….

I couldn’t sign off with at least one promising progress on a GMC….The first series “break apart frame” windows on the Green Machine now slide, Celts are replaces, flames cleaned and refinished and the frames are sealed to the body..thank you Arthur for your great work…ok, I think I’ve fulfilled my responsibility especially considering I’m supposed to be off.  Just got word a wounded soldier just came in from the roadand another Elvis enters the building…..stay tuned for the diagnosis………
