Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"

November 2, 2020

So I may have freaked out a few of you guys………yeah, its growing that fast!

………….new thinks are being put into our already cool looking machines.  6 wheel air adjusible suspension…….a hi rev 350 Olds motorFiTech fuel injection, 4:10 tall gears!  Honda EV-4010 generator, textured exterior finish, clear windshield film, shaved original bumpers, “Fandango blinds”, Serpantine belt system, off shelf aluminum radiator, 15,000 but AC with a flush, clean roof……….and this is but 1 idea…….there are more!Clean, better rewired engine harnesses with ATC (plug in colored fusses like newer cars.). Here you can see the off shelf radiator and huge AC confessed and trans cooler….very nice…..And here is the unit…..all aluminum off shelf radiator, and OEM twin variable speed fan cooling box with a 3rd electric fan when the dash AC in engaged.  New cars all do this and have assemblies ….go lift your new cars hood ….if you can find the hood release!  Above is how new car designs do things!  Why not us!

An update, seems there are a few things vs still persisting on our CVF Serpantine belt system…..yhis is always the discovery that happens integrating new technologies to older things like our coaches….we had issues with fuel I section……it was discovered the fix….. Aluminum radiators ate no all created equal and you don’t want some spiffy looking aftermarket fan box bought cheap!  Install block off plates or you’ll be on the side of the road.

All of this stuff are things we want you to know about.  Our recent post on Patreon outlining how to uniquely time up our 403 and 455 motors.  You may have never heard this….take a read.

These are the things we want to focus our efforts here on.this is an awesome coach that’s foe sale…..someone is going to get a truly fantastic example…..all newly built cabinets in 1995……zoom in on that “digital dash I wired up from a Dakota Digital kit…….in 1995!………yep, I’m proud of the 4 of those I put together back then.

And there’s so much more around here that makes all of this happenThis interior is coming together…….the countertop is custom cut solid surface

So this and more are all 8n front of us……..stay tuned and watch ……

This bad boy is in for a mechanical review for a possible sale……someones going to get a nice one!

Last but not least…..an original starter and a reduction gear starter………………stay tuned……….

    G’day Jim,

Well I have been watching your videos for the last 12 months and learnt so much from your wealth of knowledge.

So I purchased a 73′ Painted Desert in Feb this year and due to ‘Rona19 haven’t been able to get it shipped interstate due to border restrictions and lack of work (none actually).

The time has come to get that bad boy shipped from south Australia to the Sunshine Coast in sunny Queensland 2000+ kms (1242 miles). NO I ain’t gonna risk driving her until I have done a thorough maintenance and inspection (although it was driven 800kms (497miles) to its current position).

So the issue I’m facing is lack of Low-boy transport and so far the quote is $4,350 AUD ($3068.49 USD).

question: Is a low boy the only option of transport for a 26’ GMC motorhome ?

would love to chat with you sometime and will join up the COOP asap.

    best wishes from Downunder

    Regards

    Dejai

PS: here is the video I took in Feb of my GMC https://youtu.be/SCB9EARIGuc

Transportation cost is a bummer, if we were working on skate boards……… Maybe get the bearings, brakes and tires attended to then just take a slow drive bringing tools and parts. Good luck, let me know if I can help.
