Vintage RV & Motorhome restorations - "The GMC Coop"

Airstream Projects

This is a page devoted to images of Airstream units we have and are working with here at the Co-op.  Actually, Airstream products have a great deal of opportunity in the retro “recycle” vintage RV industry.  Their styling is very distinctive.

the structural construction is good and the units can be disassembled and renovated to newer styling  Follow some of our “different”sort of work.

Anyway, one of the downsides of owning a  “Transmode” (commercial application GMC) is having a place to stay at rallies!  I mean, I’m OK with a sleeping bag on the flow but its not what I would call the easy life.  So its pretty hard for Janie & I to have a comfortable place to stay — but no more!  I hope to hit the first rally of the all new “tech oriented” club having this baby tagging along to give us some “room” to stay.  Hey, General Motors didn’t make a travel trailer and these things are pretty neat!  I pulled over 4000 lb. to Mariposa last year, I think I can handle a single axle 3500 lb. silver bullet like this.

Go to 63 Tradewind for a look at an Airstream travel trailer project.  This “Retro Roadhouse” will be towed by our custom 10″ long GMC flatbed.  This will be my personal sanctuary, it will be the “lab rat” for ideas.  Follow it and watch it take shape.

Go to 75 Argosy for more on this project.

1987 35′ Airstream custom reclear

8 Gallons of clear!  Yes, this exterior refinish not only features a painted and blended roof (to cover the badly sun damaged finish) but also 8 gallons of high solids clear making this “silver bullet” the slickest eye catcher on the road.  Go to 87 Motorhome for more.

1979 28′ Excella

What are we doing with this rare classic? Well go to 79 Shiny one and see what’s up!

Thanks for the visit.  Our site is always under construction, new things pop up all the time so come back often.  We hope we can convey our excitement on renovation classic motorhomes and travel trailers, to reintroduce them to the general public as a cost effective alternative to sinking your hard earned dollars into the black hole that is todays RV industry.  These classic units can again be as impressive and useful as they were before.  They can give you the freedom to see our country, do it in style, comfort and convenience.  Think about it, I feel certain you too will get excited.
