You probably guessed is, I’m late and processing pics… well I’ll past up another excuse, Jay M., RC & I hit the breakfast whole and feasted…. it’s going to be a great day, SOS solidifying in my stomach should keep everyone busy in there a big part of the day so I can focus on having fun here at the shop.
Oh yeah, it’s Friday, first day of the Sunshine Statesmen rally in Leesburg. Today being day one why am I here at the shop plunking to you guys? First and foremost it’s Janies birthday and we’re doing dinner tonight, I also won’t make it today til everyone beds down so we’ll hopefully make breakfast in the morning. I’ve heard some say they just to feel like club people. I have to say with respect for all we’re all “clubbers” in some way, just talking to like minded people about the motorhome is a group… a group can be a club but we’re all in there somewhere. I’m a mamber is a couple of clubs why.. because there are people who like some thing I do too. Happens also I made a business of it still though I’m as head over heals about these things as you guys are .. just happens maybe I fell TOO head over heals but hey, there it is…
So we’ll have a great time seeing coaches, talking to people about their coach… sure it’s a socal time and that’s a large part of a club attraction but our clubs must always remain in focus on the motorhome. That’s what sets our community apart.. we’re here for the coach and keeping it’s dream alive. I hope you too will be doing something with your coach, this is the time of your to get out so do it!
OK, as promised here are a few interior pics of David G. coach “Chauncey”. This coach has provenaunce being the last coach I knew of packed away in an aircraft hanger. Driven to Alaska, put away still wet the couple ran out and bought a 26′ coach, actually this coach
which Kevin the painter here now ownes. So they packed ole Chauncy away in their hanger in front of their plane and there he sat for 17 years. Time marches on, the couple passed away and the ole 23′ coach was dug out of the hanger blowing a tire on the Landall trailer coming to the shop here .
Found a home first with a young family in Miami but what their family was found to soon incease.. hey that happens to young folks… the word went out for a new owner who had less kids. Not having kids but a couple of small dogs, David G. stepped up and Chauncy was conceived. The raw material was perfect for the project and there were some particular things David wanted for his Chauncey. First just a few things you know what happens when you fall in love… out comes the jewerly and before you know it you are doing things to your baby for the love of it. A new dash both in function but also in form
still need the new steering wheel. A Zip Dee electric awning
well, we HAD to have that along with the remote controlled multi color LED mood lights
HAD to have that! Then there is the refinished original interior wood
and some snazzy new upholstry and window treatments
get rid of those “wedgie” pedestals
… basically make Chauncey everything he wants it to be. This is a great project now coming together.. this will be a coach not just for today but for tomorrow. Great care in design both function and form, David will have a blast with Chauncey, we just need to get it finished, through shakedown and another awesome GMC will be on the road.
Close to 9am, RC and Jay M. are lurking around having some fun so I need to get out there. Good to spend a little time with you guys, use your coach this weekend, go to a rally, a campout of just down to a park for dinner. Go to the grocery store, eat lunch in the coach before you go shopping… you’ll buy less! Plug it in and spend the night in the driveway, close the blinds and you’re camping! “Get out there and live your dream” as James from YouTube “wanderlustestate” says. You are so lucky to have a machine to do that with. See ya tomorrow maybe at the rally…
Nice story on 23 ft.we saved another one.LOOKS out of this world, nice job. J.P
Wow Jim, thanks for all the pictures and the writeup this am. She’s looking good! It’s 2 weeks away and I will be flying in. I sort of wish I could just go into hibernation for 2 weeks and get there ASAP!
