(Updated foe Wednesday) Parts supply problems are challenging us to do more……

……… Our custom window treatment manufacturer sold out and you KNOW they changed their sizes!and our valence patterns for 1″ headers must be redesigned after using the same size

The day is on, I’ll came back with more later……..

(Wesdnesday Update)

Yesterday got so crazy I never got a chance to finish the thread………..

So Covid screws us one again, the custom cell shade company we’ve used for eons…..they were bought out as many industries are consolidating.  What that causes…..and this has effected many more businesses we rely upon……these new bigger companies are pull In back only producing the top selling products the sell letting the less popular custom product either discontinuing them or merging them to other similar products.

Our problem is we USE those unique products that fit our coach!  Headers on any quality shade system today are 2″ wide, our beloved GM floorplan overhead cabinets have only 1 1/4″ clearance at the top.  This means all of our valence patterns will not fit.  1″ headers are gone on quality blinds…..crap Parts maybe but that’s not an option!

Solution?  The overhead cabinets must be relocated, spaced out to allow clearance for the new quality “up/down, down/up, cordless 2 layer cellular shades.  Pulling overhead cabinets to add clearance……overhead, particle board cabinets do this when no one knew the seams on the roof needs revealing…..water damagewater plus particle board equals this….and thisso to fit the only window treatments that are quality, these overheads come down, must be repaired to hand in place again BEFIRE we can do the 1 hour or so labor to hang each blind.  And as far as out delivery schedule is concerned……here we go!

I ran out yesterday to do a big road test for the Coke coachpumping fuel in like a fire hose into the aluminum fuel tank……that works!  The test was a positive….the alternator went out so I guess it’s time for the one wire alternator and Semlac combiner!  See that’s what a road test is for….to find the OTHER parts that need love!

Or cabinet specialist is sweating his life out fixing those overheads pronto to try and keep us goingThanks Bob, we all pitch in around here……… Just another thing.

Guys I’m serious when I say right now with the way everything is with Covid slow downs and all, there’s little we can do….qe are working with really old stuff that has been ravaged by time…..they are all this way.  These holdbacks are real!

The effects of manpower, parts delivery and the fact that so many of you out there want you custom travel chamber is backing us up.  Too much work, not enough workers and slow coming parts and now redesigning our coach for new parts…..guys, this is a difficult situation to progress under.  Everyone in the country is effected…..us too!

Now that the EM-50 is mobile it pulled up onto the lift for its undercarriage work, fuel tanks, underside sealing , etc.  At least that project is not suffering from parts availability!

We lost our warehouse and shipping gut so I’m doing all that now myself….picked out the best 2 original hub caps for an order…..anyone else need one…..$10 each…..call memaybe 16″ rims are on national backorder but hey…we’ve got plenty of 16.5″ hub caps!

Kidding aside, our troubles here are being increased by all of this Covid stuff…..you guys have got to bear with us, it’s not that we don’t know what to do….we can’t do it without parts and people.  The things we do here are not eady, working on really old vehicles is a thankless job so please keep all this in mind…..there is no president foe working on these old things AND no president on companies trying to do this work…..hey but we’re giving it a go so hang with us while Covid rages on.

On, now I’m late to work!  See ya later…xall if I can help….and if you need an old hub cap…..btw, this looks like the last coach to be fitted with new 16.5″ tires on original rims…..4 were out of round, our take-off old rim supply is about tapped out.  Steel rims bend just sitting in 1 place.  Keep this in mind when looking to buy a coach with original rims……….chances are they will need to be replaced….The owner of this coach tried to go cheap on the rims and tires……i don’t see this as a future option………

    Jim,
Do you see any difference between the earlier 16.5 Non Radial wheels and the later radial 16.5 wheels?

    Thanks,
    Bill
