Hollow Core Door

OK, so you feel you want to make your coach lighter,  The major interior weight change could be in the wall, cabinet and door material.  Originally they used glued together high density particle board– if you ask me, that not a proper material to use in motorhome interior applications but hey, it’s what we have to work with.

Now understand, to strip out all of that material may be a bit more work than is reasonable.  The best way is whenever you have a panel down for repairs or whatever, consider replacing it with new lighter materials.  You may say the heck with it and put the stuff back and to tell you the truth, we do that many times.  The process I am going to show you here many times is simply too to labor intensive.

Anyway, here we go.  We are going to first replace the original swinging bathroom door with a new design pocket style door.  It’s interesting that some feel they like the door to swing for privacy as in a standard GM floorplan while others like Chuck have a different floorplan and this swinging door always seems to be in their way.  Both ideas are valid, just depends on what fits you.
