August 26, 2021

Last week we found 16.5″ rims are bent…..now the other shoe has dropped……

…….. Firestone no longer has 16.5″ tires available!  National out or stock with no delivery date available!  It’s the end of an era!

Recently finding 4 of 6 steel rims bent on this coach…..we were able to find 4 straight rims from our drek pilewe had said this could be the last time to use steel rims…..but now with Firestone backing away from 16.5″ inventory…….if you still run steelys you may want to start saving up for aluminum 16″ rims.

Btw, 17″ dually rims currently have the wrong offset…….rats!  16’s is where it’s at now.

Ok, it over….youve been told…….its taken a while but 16.5 is now gone!

What now?  The industry standard today is lug centric 6.5″ on center 16 ” rim with an internal cut out that clears our 16.5″drum.  8 stainless steel cap lug nuts, center cap, stem and aluminum rim is $250 each….and my bet is cost will go up with the way inventories are going!

Covid……..do I say anything else?  Don’t get in a hurry to buy anything…….anymore!

Sorry for the bummer new first thing……lets move on

Picked up 2 new aluminum fuel tanks todayyour eyes aren’t playing tricks on ya, that middle tank of the 3 is made of wood!  That was our design plug to integrate the last improvements.  This one looks like a keeper…..this tank design has been thru many changes from our first designs which is how unique parts are designed “in the field”.  There have been many changes from our early design…..thanks to all who have helped us improve on this design.

….With the 2 steel tanks rusting apart from Ethanol fuel, SOMETHING had to be done.

Why a single replacement tank?  Can you IMAGINE how much it would cost to make 2!  Plus the fact the the new fuel injection systems (which sooner or later we will all have to go to) wants to pull fuel out and put fuel back into the same cavity.  A single tanks solves that too.

4 1/2 deep and wide tanks already have inherent issues that baffles cannot fix.  Venting is also an issue, our original 2 tanks systems can be solved so yes, these tanks are a must to have a reliable coach in the future.  It’s that or really keep your tanks clean….use non-Ethanol fuel and/or hi test fuel.  Like the 16.5″ steely rims, tanks are going away too.……. Here you see the top of our new tank with a raised venting cavity and all fittings on the side (no hoses on top) and mounting flanges integrated into the tank structure.

Give us a call of you have interest.

See ya tomorrow………
