…..Hey, everything is slow these days I guess!…… The early rising stuff is slowly slipping away.
Deeonce again he lives! We are still testing and tuning ignition using a carb…..Why?heck, it took me decades to be as smart as that carb…… I know what to do to set up timing and break in the motor. I’m not going for AFR 14.1…. I’ll never reach proper mix but I can set up the new distributer and get a baseline on timing before adding FiTech.had a question asking what the dash looks like in the Mutcedes. It ain’t pretty but it workswe have mechanical gauges in the back and electric gauges upfront….had to get a 14′ shift cable! Alotta fun
There was a recent thread on repair/replacing the steering shaft the connects the steering column to the steering box. The original ones we were blessed with are wearing out with no repair parts. Being non supported it becomes a bottleneck to keep our coaches on the road. Kinda like the lower ball joint Moon discontinued recently. Many of our critical parts are going away. One issue with our original steering shaft is this CV joint under you upper steering bootWhen the boot rips and water pits those ball bearings…..man you steering wheel could lock up in a turn! Yeah….Really! This one above was taken out caked as you see it. The question becomes “where can I get a new one?”
Here is a new steering shaft that we have switched to out of the Hotrod industryFrom the output shaft of the steering column to the spline input on the steering gear box….all new. No, it’s not an off shelf part with a number. This is a shaft made up with specific parts to make the same flexible connection. Cost is the dames as new original steering shafts cost. If your interested give me a call.
Hey, we have to upgrade our parts to be had……..
Yep, we’re gonna have a fun weekend “breaking in” this fresh 455….. See ya…..
