I picked up a classic Volvo last year….. Driven by an engineers wife it had been well kept fpr sure. Since i started driving it i have replaced a pile of parts…..

…..brakes went out, an oil seal dropped oil making the motor smoke, the alternator went out, battery too, radiator hose, dash AC compressor and hoses, tires, muffler and tail pipe and some paint started flaking.  34 years old and that super $800 purchase is STILL an awesome car……..but parts fell off and I anticipate more will soon.  Was it the previous owners fault those parts had to be replaced?…..NO, it’s an OLD CAR! I still love the car and I’m willing to put more into it…….Why?……because I like and want to drive a 1988 Volvo………….why do YOU own your GMC?

Add 4 times the weight of more parts, add another 15 or so years and @ 100,000 more miles and you’ve described my 1973 GMC Motorhome……and do you think I’ve put any parts into it after 10 years of owning it?

Last week I took out the trashed frig. cabinetWhose fault it THAT?  I guess mine for owning it!

The previous owner was done with the Volvo but I wanted more out of it so I put money and work into it just like I’m rebuilding the frig cabinet in my motorhome……….this is how it is with older, used vehicles.

Problem is driving a 12,000 vehicle….if I loose the brakes I have a dangerous weapon…….the Volvo wasn’t anywhere as serious………SO….are you going to buy a used GMC and go out on the highway before checking your brakes carefully?……YOURSELF!  If you say yes…no problem…..you are a fool!  Yes, I said that about YOU if you go out with a GMC you purchase without really checking it over YOURSELF and replace a pile of parts BEFORE you go out on the road!  And if you don’t expect this with any old vehicle again you are again……a fool!

If you want to be a fool, don’t include me in your problem!  Ok, you have been warned, be professional…..we are!

In that bringing the next generation to the GMC community is a main focus of our business, I see problems like this….folks getting themselves in trouble.  Please let us help you with this.  Go through a motorhome you buy BEFORE parts start falling off like my Volvo.  Just don’t do that and don’t blame the last owner…..its your fault if you are on the road and have problems…….fix that BEFORE you get out on that thin limb.

Are ya tired getting barked at?  I get tired too of getting barked at when owners get out on the road before having a reliable motorhome.  We are here to help…….there does not have to be a reason for an old machine to break, I park the Volvo and drive the Suzuki ……which has its own problems!!!!!  500,000 miles!  And the beat goes on.  A 12,000 pound broken car is a problem…..don’t set yourself up for that…….its all up to you.

If this makes sense give me an Ah Men brother!

You really need to get a handle on this if you want a positive GMC experience…….this may not be fun to read but guys, I live this situation every day……i sometimes feel like a doctor at the CDC…..all I see are issues and I want to make things better.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest…….

See ya tomorrow
